‘Waiting for Tay menu’: Internet says after Travis Kelce gears up for grand opening of his restaurant
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Travis Kelce is gearing up for the launch of his new steakhouse. Kansas City Chiefs stars and three-time Super Bowl Champion teammates Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are embarking on new endeavors by investing as partners in a new Kansas City restaurant, 1587 Prime.
During an interview with People Kelce opened up about the restaurant while highlighting his Kelce Jam music festival.
Travis Kelce readies for grand opening of 1587 Prime with Patrick Mahomes
The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared details about 1587 Prime, which he is opening with teammate Patrick Mahomes.
He said, "What I can tell you is that we're trying to open it up by around this time next year, so a 2025 grand opening," adding. “I've just been so fortunate to meet such amazing people [and] to be in it with my brother Pat Mahomes,” he added.
Kelce quips that “you guys can put two and two together obviously” when it comes to the name. (It’s a mashup of their jersey numbers.)
The athletes and the international hospitality business Noble 33 are working together to open the Kansas City restaurant at the Loews Kansas City Hotel.
"Me and Pat know the guys and girls over at Noble 33. And it's just such an unbelievable opportunity,” says Kelce.
He added, "It's just another thing that we want to bring to Kansas City, to be able to show our appreciation for the city, knowing how much they love their food and how much they love their football."
As a future steakhouse owner, the NFL pro revealed an important food preference by revealing how he likes his steak cooked.
Pop sensation Taylor Swift's boyfriend added, "I'm a medium guy. I like a medium. Hot pink center all the way through."
Last month, Kelce and Mahomes announced their joint business venture, which is described as the "ultimate experiential dining destination” in a release.
The huge, contemporary restaurant will cover two floors and 10,000 square feet. There will be multiple private dining rooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen and an eye-catching meat display at 1587 Prime. There will be "hyper-subtle nods" to the football accomplishments of Mahomes and Kelce.
