BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA: President Joe Biden has won the North Dakota Democratic presidential primary, reported the Associated Press.

Following the tallying of the largely mail-in primary, the state party leaders disclosed the results on Saturday, March 30th.

The incumbent, seeking re-election for the White House, secured 92.4% votes, according to The Hill. Only 909 people participated in the mail-in ballot, of which 840 voted for Biden.

Former President Donald Trump won North Dakota's Republican caucus on March 4.

North Dakota win adds to Joe Biden's delegate total

Earlier in the month, Biden surpassed the required 1968 delegate threshold to secure his position as the official nominee for the 2024 presidential election in November, setting the stage for a rematch with the GOP's presumptive nominee.

North Dakota has 13 pledged delegates, and the win has increased the President's delegate total.

The official nomination will be made at the Democratic National Convention in August.

No other candidates managed to secure more than 5% of votes. When author Mariane Williamson managed to get 3.4%, Rep Dean Phillips received an unimpressive 1.8% vote.

Phillips halted his campaign in early March after his disappointing showing in the Super Tuesday primaries and endorsed Biden as "OUR candidate."

Williamson, on the other hand, re-entered the race at the end of February, claiming the sitting president would be unable to defeat Trump. However, neither candidate made any momentum against Biden's dominance in the race.

The other candidates who competed against Biden were Eban Cambridge, Stephen Lyons, Jason Palmer, Armando Perez-Serrato, and Cenk Uygur.

In the 2020 Democratic primary, North Dakota chose Sen Bernie Sanders over Biden. However, being a predominantly red state, it voted for Trump in the 2016 and 2020 general elections by wide margins.

The former president also secured the Republican nomination in mid-March, turning the 2024 campaign into a general election race against his 81-year-old successor.

The 2024 presidential election will take place on November 5.

Internet ridicules Joe Biden

Netizens brutally trolled Biden's victory in the Peace Garden State, pointing out the lack of competitive opponents.

One user mockingly asked, "Lol was he running against someone?!"

"Pretty easy to win when there are no challengers. I mean it's not like he accomplished anything," another person remarked.

A user added, "Haha, when no one runs against you, you better not lose." [sic]

"All 3 Democrats in the state voted for Biden…" a response read.

A user wrote on Facebook, "I’d certainly not brag about that tragedy!!" Whereas another wrote, "This is a joke, no one else is running." [sic]

"Won by default," someone else chimed in, and one individual asked, "How? Who would ever vote for him?"

Another user added, "How hard that must be for him when no one is running against him!!! Give him a participation trophy!"
