BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: Jane's Addiction reunion show was brought to an abrupt end in Boston on Friday, September 13, when singer Perry Farrell got into an altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro.
The visibly furious vocalist was taken offstage by security personnel, but he still seemed disturbed, and the concert was eventually cut short.
Several audience members uploaded their dramatic footage of the incident taken from various angles after the event ended unexpectedly.
Perry Farrell punches guitarist Dave Navarro during Jane's Addiction Boston concert
Jane's Addiction's incredible journey spanning over 35 years took an extraordinary turn on September 13 in Boston when frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro onstage, forcing the group to end their performance early.
Crew members and bassist Eric Avery — whose return to the band after a 14-year break has been a big selling point for fans — controlled the 65-year-old vocalist.
According to fan videos, posted online, discord broke out between the two most famous rockers of the seasoned band while they were performing 'Ocean Size,' the eleventh song in a set that often consists of 14 or 15 songs, per Variety.
Ferrell could be seen bellowing loudly in the crowd on camera prior to the altercation. He then moved to his right and started yelling at Navarro from close range.

Problems started in "Mountain Song" when Perry shouted at Dave. Issues got worse in "Three Days" + boiled over in "Ocean Size."

The guitarist eventually stopped playing and put a palm to his chest to show that he was not amused by his violent shoulder-bumping. Subsequently, it seemed as though the vocalist punched Navarro's chest.
Three men, among them bassist Eric Avery, were seen surrounding him and yelling, "stop." Farrell was finally compelled to leave the stage by three men at that moment, still visibly struggling as he was hurried into the wings.
Navarro and the other members of the band approached the front of the stage, after Farrell left the stage, to express their gratitude to the audience. They looked composed as they gave each other hugs, tapped their hearts, and peace signs.
As per Spin.com, social media users were incensed by Farrell's dismal performances at two outdoor concerts in New York earlier this week, and some even speculated that he might be dealing with drug or alcohol problems.
Jane's Addiction has not officially commented on the event or the future of the band, which has broken up and reunited multiple times since their initial 1991 split. The band is slated to perform on September 15 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
As of this writing, the tour is still planned to go on and conclude on October 16 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, going back to the venue where the trio made their successful debut earlier in the trip, in mid-August.
Social media users call event the 'last Janes A show ever'
The altercation quickly went viral on social media, sparking a plethora of quips and real concerns for the band members' well-being alongside many blaming Farrell's alleged addiction.
One X user wrote, "I was there. The crowd was bemused. Half pissed the show ended early and half excited we may have seen the last Janes A show ever."
A second user added, "Buddy sent me this from the Jane’s Addiction show. Crazy end to the show."
"Not cool, not fair to the fans either, shame on Perry, a band works together, not fighting each other," wrote a third user.
Another exclaimed, "Jane is no longer the biggest addict. Sad it’s come to this."

Sad it’s come to this.
One user blamed Perry Farrell's alleged addiction and wrote, "That is absolutely nuts. Obviously something happened prior so I can’t wait to see that. I saw them in Raleigh recently and Perry was LIT up drinking wine straight out of the bottle(s) early and often all night."
"Well, looks like the band won't be getting back together. That was wild. Kids, let this be a lesson...don't do drugs and anger will eat you up inside," chimed in another.
One remarked, "So f**king sad. Perry should be on his knees kissing their feet - that band has been carrying his erratic ass through these shows - they are such amazing musicians and so f**king professional."
Another said, "I was there Perry Ferrell (spelling???) was sloppy all night, mumbling. The tickets were free so I wasn’t upset. The rest of the band was fantastic. One guy ruined the show."
