Janet Jackson reveals her familial ties with Tracy Chapman, Stevie Wonder and Samuel L Jackson

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Janet Jackson shared that her family tree includes some of Hollywood's biggest names.

The 'Rhythm Nation' creator disclosed this unexpected information during an appearance on the BBC Radio 2 'Breakfast Show'.

Responding to host Scott Mills's question, "Now someone told me this earlier, are you related to Stevie [Wonder]?” Janet Jackson replied, “He’s our cousin.”

“Not a lot of people know that. He’s our cousin on my mother’s side. So is Tracy Chapman," she revealed.

“So is Samuel [L] Jackson,” the music icon added. 

She noted that the Marvel actor “would be my cousin too, I mean he’s not my brother.”

Janet Jackson's revelation of Stevie Wonder, Tracy Chapman, and Samuel L Jackson being her relatives added another layer of intrigue to the Jackson family.

The 58-year-old musician is the sister of iconic figures like Rebbie, 74, Jackie, 73, Tito, 70, Jermaine, 69, La Toya, 68, Marlon, 67, Randy 62, Brandon - who died after birth in 1957 and the late Michael Jackson.

In July, Janet reflected on her experience of writing the 1995 song 'Scream' with her brother Michael who died at the age of 50 in 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

"Mike and I wrote that song in New York, in his apartment," she shared.

"So [I relive] that whole journey, listening to him sing it [and remembering] what he was going through at that time," she told BBC.
