WASHINGTON, DC: During a eulogy for the late Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Thursday, August 1, Vice President Kamala Harris accidentally referred to herself as the "president." This slip caused a wild reaction from the audience as she promptly corrected herself.

Harris, along with Democratic luminaries such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, delivered remarks in Houston to commemorate the extensive public service career of the late congresswoman.

Vice President Kamala Harris highlighted that Jackson Lee had proposed a bill to recognize Juneteenth – the day that signifies the abolition of slavery in the United States – as a national holiday.

“Which as a US Senator, I was proud to co-sponsor and then as presi–” Harris spoke about her involvement in the passage of the bill before she corrected herself.

“As vice president it was my honor – with the president! With the president!” she spoke, and the crowd responded with applause and cheers.

She continued, “It was my honor – it was my honor, with our President Joe Biden to stand beside Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee as our president signed her bill into law.”

Biden has faced inquiries about his mental fitness and the possibility of resigning from the presidency in the coming months. These questions arose after he suspended his re-election campaign and endorsed Harris on July 21 as his replacement for the party nomination.

The White House has maintained that Biden will complete his term.

“Sheila Jackson Lee was a woman of deep faith and deep compassion. She was a proud member of our beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and she was a dear, dear friend to my husband Doug and me,” Harris said.

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who is Jewish, and Jackson Lee have participated in numerous events together over the past years, including activities within the Jewish community, as Harris mentioned, the New York Post reported.

“You may not know but Sheila and Doug my husband struck up a fast friendship in recent years. And they did a number of events together, including with the Jewish community here in Houston. Because she, of course, was also a coalition builder. And she fought for everybody knowing that the vast majority of us have so much more in common than what separates us,” she said.

Internet mocks Kamala Harris

As soon as Kamala Harris' statement surfaced on social media, users started reacting to it.

A user wrote, "It's pretty cocky for someone losing in the polls to say such a thing."

Another user said mocking Harris, "She’s confusing her campaign speeches with her eulogy speech."

A third commentator sarcastically asked, "The question now is: for how long has she been president?"

"She has not even been elected as her party candidate now and she has already promoted herself to President. Democrats love Dictators, because they don’t want to take personal responsibility for their lives," one remarked.

A person claimed, "It wasn't an accident. She did it on purpose. All this at a memorial service for Congresswoman Shelia Jackson. (Check yr watch Kamala). That's twice now. Calling herself Pres & yesterday calling Joe "VP."

Another added, "She is disgusting."
