DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Vice President Kamala Harris retorted to former president Donald Trump's maundering criticism of her with a brief yet spot-on response.

The Republican presidential nominee ripped Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov Tim Walz, in a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach on Thursday, August 8. This was his first media address since the vice president became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden's historic exit from the 2024 race.

In his tirade, Trump labeled his opponent "barely competent" and stated he had not changed the campaign strategy since his successor's withdrawal, noting his focus was always on open borders and crime, CNN reported.

"I think she's worse than Biden," the real estate said of Harris. "Because he got forced into the position. She was there long before."

Kamala Harris says she's 'too busy talking to voters' to pay attention to Trump's attacks

As Kamala Harris approached the reporters at the Detroit Metro Airport tarmac after winding up an event at a United Auto Workers union hall in Michigan, the vice president was pressed about her response to her Republican rival's attacks, reported The Daily Beast.

A reporter asked her to comment on the litany of criticisms Trump made at the news conference at Mar-a-Lago.

"I was too busy talking to voters. I didn’t hear them," Harris responded.

Before her conversation on the tarmac, she also took a similar approach, dismissing the remarks as "the same old show" from Trump.

It was the first time the vice president addressed the reporters' questions since she ascended as the nominee for the Democratic ticket. Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, recently brought her under scrutiny over her lack of media appearances in the past few weeks.

Vance even pulled a stunt by talking to her press pool recently and criticized her disengagement with the press when they crossed paths on a tarmac in Wisconsin.

Addressing reporters at the tarmac in Detroit, Harris also weighed in on the potential of a sit-down interview and expressed her contentment over Trump's agreement for the ABC News debate on September 10.

Internet backs Kamala Harris for her 'elite level trolling' of Trump

Netizens clapped at Harris's quick and witty response to Trump's rant against her at the Mar-a-Lago press conference.

"Kamala being more presidential than trump has ever been must be killing his ego. You love to see it," a user wrote.

"Harris is owning Trump, smalling him and accentuating his irrelevance is elite level trolling. And she’s smiling as she does it," another remarked.

"She's out there doing the work and getting things done. He's not worth her time," added a third user.

"Kamala Harris didn’t have time to listen to Donald Trump’s mental breakdown on live TV. Kamala Harris is Trump’s opponent— not his therapist," read a fourth response.

"Quick & witty ! Maybe we needed a woman in office after all!" Someone else chimed in.

"That's a (in a good way) Reagan-esque answer," an individual opined.

"That's the correct response, and really the only sensible response. You can spend time listening to a litany of lies if you want, but please don't waste my time with them. I've got things to do that are important to the future of the country," read one remark.

"Ouch, you know how this is going to drive him crazy! Please another 100 days of this!" Another user wrote.
