As the applause echoed through the venue, DeVito exclaimed, "Look at that, it’s so beautiful. Look at everybody. Look at that, very nice. Well, Arnold and I are presenting together, for a very obvious reason." Schwarzenegger chimed in, adding, "We both tried to kill Batman."

Reflecting on their respective Batman roles, DeVito, who portrayed the villain Penguin in 1992's 'Batman Returns', engaged Schwarzenegger, who played Mr Freeze in 1997's 'Batman & Robin', featuring George Clooney as Batman.
The banter continued with DeVito asking, "How did Batman beat you?" to which Schwarzenegger humorously responded, "He used my one weakness against me...." DeVito playfully inquired, "Heat?" only for Schwarzenegger to reply, "Love. Oh. He threw me out a window. Really." DeVito quipped, "Batman, that son of a bitch," and Schwarzenegger responded with a laugh.
Adding to the entertaining exchange, DeVito pointed to Michael Keaton, who portrayed Batman and was present in the audience. The camera captured Keaton, who maintained a straight-faced demeanor, having joined a reunion of his own earlier in the ceremony with 'Beetlejuice' co-star Catherine O'Hara.
"You have a lot of nerve to show your face here," said Schwarzenegger, addressing Keaton from the stage. DeVito added, "You’re a real beak-breaker. I'm gonna see you after the Governors Ball, pal!"
