Donald Trump sparks debate as he promises to build a 'beautiful' Iron Dome over America if reelected

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump pledged to construct an Israel-style "Iron Dome" for the nation if he emerges victorious in the November election. 

The Iron Dome, developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries, helps to establish a protective space above Israeli towns and settlements by targeting any incoming short-range projectile determined to be a threat, as reported by Reuters.

The MAGA leader, at his 78th birthday soiree at Club 47 in West Palm Beach, said, "By next term, we will build a great Iron Dome over our country. We deserve a dome. We deserve it all, made state of the art. We deserve a dome. We deserve it all, made state of the art. It's a missile defense shield, and it'll all be made in America. Jobs, jobs, jobs," as per Fox News.

During the Friday, June 14, event, Trump claimed that the dome was former President Ronald Reagan’s dream but due to lack of technology, it remained unfulfilled.

"We now have the technology. We're going to have a big, beautiful Iron Dome. Great opportunity for young people," stressed the White House hopeful.

Since the Iron Dome's deployment in 2011, the all-weather air defense system has rebuffed and destroyed rockets from Hamas and Iranian drones and missiles. Notably, the United States reportedly contributed about $1.6 billion toward the project between 2011 and 2022.

A netizen wrote, "Wow, the democrats must really be getting nervous. When President Trump wins again, it's going to be an all-out meltdown. Elections have consequences," and another shared, "Amen to that Mr. President! Our president will rebuild the country after all the damage YOUR president has caused. God Bless America!"

"Safety and security for the nation. Along with law and order... These are necessary for a safe and civilized society... Trump... 2024," remarked a person.

On the other hand, a critic mentioned, "The US doesn't need an Iron Dome. The technology is designed for a small country that is surrounded by enemies, Great for Israel. But it's not effective against long-range missiles or nuclear warheads, so it would be a waste of a lot of money for us."

"Let me guess. Mexico is going to pay for it? The healthcare plan is still two weeks away? Trump is going to reduce the deficit/debt? 😂," quipped someone else. 

One asked, "How is this even remotely practical? 1. The US is ~470X the size of Israel 2. Since when are short-range missile attacks, the likes of which Israel has to deal with, a threat we need constant protection from in the US? 3. Where would such attacks even come from? Mexico? Canada?"
