Trump recalls alleged harrowing near-helicopter crash with Kamala Harris’ ex Willie Brown
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump recounted an alleged dangerous helicopter ride with Vice President Kamala Harris' ex-boyfriend Willie Brown on Thursday, August 8, where they feared they might not land safely.
“I know Willie Brown very well,” Trump commented when asked by The New York Post about Harris' relationship with the former San Francisco mayor. “In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him,” the 78-year-old Republican presidential nominee reminisced.
Donald Trump claims he and Willie Brown experienced emergency landing in helicopter
“We thought, maybe this is the end. We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing,” Donald Trump explained. “This was not a pleasant landing, and Willie was – he was a little concerned.”
In September 2004, Willie Brown, aged 90, experienced a turbulent helicopter landing while en route from a fundraiser in Santa Barbara, California, to Los Angeles International Airport.
The helicopter encountered transmission issues and flew low over a Malibu High School football game before making an emergency landing in a nearby elementary school field, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
“They barely cleared the high school and then landed very quickly at the elementary school playground,” Hans Laetz, who witnessed the crash landing, reported the incident to the media. “This guy came in fast and he was down in 10 seconds. You could tell it was not a planned landing.”

It is unclear whether Trump was on that specific helicopter with Brown. The Post's inquiry for a statement from his campaign went unanswered.
Donald Trump alleges Willie Brown expressed unfavorable opinions about Kamala Harris
Additionally, during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump claimed that Willie Brown, who was romantically involved with Kamala Harris in the mid-1990s, had expressed unfavorable opinions about her.
“He told me terrible things about her,” Trump referred to the former mayor's statement about the Vice President.
“He had a big part in what happened with Kamala,” the former president elaborated, noting that he and Brown were in communication at that time and “he was not a fan of hers.”
During their alleged romance in 1994–1995, Brown was the speaker of the California Assembly, while Harris was a prosecutor in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
Willie Brown reacts to Donald Trump's claims
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown refuted Donald Trump's assertion on Thursday that they both endured a near-death experience when they supposedly were in a helicopter that "went down."
The former mayor stated that the event did not occur, according to Fox 59.
“I’ve never done business with Donald Trump, let’s start with that,” Brown went on to say. “And secondly, I don’t think I’d want to ride on the same helicopter with him. There’s too many people that have an agenda with reference to him, including the people who service helicopters!”
“He was doing what Donald does best — his creative fiction,” Brown responded with a chuckle.
"And if the mayor had been aboard a helicopter that was descending in an emergency, the world would’ve known about it!” he said.
Ex-Mayor Brown also denied the claims that he had spoken "terrible things" about Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump's Democratic rival.
“He’s creative, real creative. That’s so far-fetched, it’s unbelievable,” Brown added talking about Trump's claims. “I could not envision thinking of Kamala Harris in any negative way. She’s a good friend a long time ago, an absolutely beautiful woman, smart as all hell, very successful, electorally speaking.”
“I was a part of every campaign that she’s ever been involved in, supported her religiously and will still do so, and I am just looking forward for the next 89 days. I just can’t wait to get her in as president,” he concluded.

"You can't even be surprised anymore. We just presume what Trump says is a lie. Like today when he compared his crowds to those of Martin Luther King's," another said.
