'Welcome to Plathville' star Ethan Plath and wife Olivia file for divorce after 5 years of marriage

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: 'Welcome to Plathville' star Ethan Plath and his estranged wife Olivia have formally filed for divorce, four months after announcing their separation.

The 25-year-old couple filed 'joint paperwork to legally end their five-year marriage' in Carver County, Minnesota on February 21, four months after posting about their split on Instagram, per PEOPLE.

According to In Touch, Olivia and Ethan attributed their divorce to an 'irretrievable breakdown'. They also stated that they separated on February 25, 2023, although they didn't make their split official until October 2023.

After being married in 2018, Olivia and Ethan chose to move out of their shared house and spent some time apart as they assessed their marriage's prospects.

Eventually, the two got back together, but because they were not active on each other's social media accounts, fans began wondering if they had broken up as early as 2023.

The couple posted their separation announcement on Instagram in October 2023, with Ethan sending out a statement on Instagram informing their supporters that he and Olivia had "parted ways."

He wrote: "It just didn't work between us, though Lord knows we both gave it all we both gave it all we had. It seemed we were constantly pulling each other in opposite directions in life with different goals."

"I wish Olivia the best in the future ahead. I care for her deeply and always will," the reality celebrity concluded the post.

Olivia also uploaded a post at the time with her Instagram followers, where she reflected on their time together.

She wrote: "I have ambivalent memories of us being 18 years old, innocently dreaming of forever - but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in, and at 18 I didn't know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself."

Olivia stated that she began a "journey of questioning, deconstructing, and rebuilding" after seven years. "Thank you for the good times, Ethan. I wish the best for you," she wrote as she concluded her message.

Olivia Plath earlier reflected on her marriage to Ethan 'falling apart'

In December 2023, she admitted in an Instagram Story Q&A that her experience as a wedding photographer opened her eyes to what she "deserved" and "could have," per Daily Mail.

Olivia answered a fan's question on whether working as a wedding photographer "while going through a separation" was "ever triggering" in the Instagram Story Q+A.

The 'Welcome to Plathville' star responded at the time: "Not at all! There were times last year that I felt disingenuous championing other's marriages while mine was falling apart."

"But on the flip side, working with so many couples and seeing their relationships up close helped me see what I deserved and could have. I'm so glad I finally realized that," per PEOPLE.

"Curiosity and compassion are two non-negotiables for me!" Olivia revealed while discussing her 'must haves' in a potential mate. "Also, someone who knows that I'm going to change as I learn, grow, and explore. Idk, that might be nice."

"Oh, and also wouldn't mind splitting the cooking responsibilities," the reality star continued, perhaps aiming Ethan's remarks from the December 'Welcome to Plathville' finale, where he implied that their marriage would have been repaired if Olivia had been "cooking three meals a day" for him.

Ethan finally called it quits on their marriage in the December 2023 airing of the season five finale.
