DANBURY, CONNECTICUT: Former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon will serve his prison sentence in the Danbury, Connecticut, facility that inspired the Netflix series 'Orange Is the New Black'.

CNN's Katelyn Polantz revealed on Monday, June 17, that Bannon will not be going to a minimum-security 'Club Fed' facility, which are known for their relatively comfortable conditions, as per The Raw Story.

Instead, Bannon will be housed in a low-security federal prison, a decision influenced by his pending fraud charges in New York related to the 'We Build The Wall' scheme. This designation requires a higher level of security than the minimum-security facilities he had hoped for.

"What are you learning about where Bannon might end up serving time behind bars?" asked anchor Jake Tapper.

"Well, Jake, it's an actual prison. Steve Bannon wanted to go to a 'Club Fed', a prison camp, but that is not what is going to be possible in the federal system for him now that he has to serve this four-month sentence for contempt of Congress, refusing to be an interviewee or turn over documents to the House," Polantz replied.

"It houses lots of male inmates. It also ... houses some female inmates, including the woman that wrote previously, the memoir, 'Orange Is the New Black,'" she added.

The Danbury facility, which houses both male and female inmates, became widely known through the memoir 'Orange Is the New Black,' written by Piper Kerman. The book was later adapted into the popular Netflix series. The prison includes some violent offenders, a far cry from the cushy environment of a 'Club Fed'.

Bannon's legal team is actively seeking to delay his imprisonment through appeals, arguing that his role in the national presidential campaign is too critical for him to be incarcerated. His lawyers have written to the DC US Circuit Court of Appeals, stating that his imprisonment should not coincide with the four months leading up to the November election.

They claimed that millions of Americans rely on Bannon for information on important campaign issues, according to a recent filing.

Two years ago, a federal jury in Washington, DC, found Bannon guilty of failing to comply with a subpoena that demanded he provide an interview and documents to the US House's investigation into the January 6 events.

Despite facing these legal issues, Bannon has maintained his alliance with Trump and has been an outspoken advocate for Trump's reelection campaign for president.
