Wendy Williams rushed to hospital for wellness check after she drops ‘Help’ note from NYC window

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Wendy Williams was rushed to a hospital from her New York assisted living facility on Monday, March 10, after the former talk show host dropped a harrowing handwritten note from her window, pleading for help.
The note simply read, “Help! Wendy!!” reported the New York Post.

Wendy Williams appears visibly distressed
According to police sources, the distressing incident occurred around 11.15 am on Monday when Wendy Williams, who has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, tossed the note from her fifth-story room.
Officers responded to a wellness check, leading to Williams being taken from the facility in an ambulance.
Shortly before the ambulance arrived, Williams was spotted waving her arms from the window while speaking on the phone, visibly distressed.
Soon after, the 60-year-old former talk show host exited the facility in silence, escorted by multiple officers, before being helped into the waiting emergency vehicle.
Wendy Williams' ongoing guardianship battle
The troubling incident comes as Wendy Williams remains locked in a high-profile legal battle to end her court-ordered guardianship, which has been in place since 2022.
Her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has previously stated that Williams has become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and incapacitated” due to her dementia diagnosis.
However, Williams has repeatedly denied these claims.
In a recent phone interview with TMZ, she compared her situation to being in “prison,” asserting, “I’m not allowed to go outside on my own free will.”
Despite the legal restrictions, Williams recently achieved a minor victory in her fight for autonomy.
In February, her guardian informed a judge that she would be open to allowing Williams to undergo a new medical evaluation, potentially paving the way for a reevaluation of her mental and legal status.
Wendy Williams' potential return to television
Wendy Williams’ medical emergency also coincides with news that she was set to return to television for the first time in years.

The former daytime television star had planned to make an appearance on ABC’s 'The View' on Friday, March 14, her first time on a talk show since taking a leave of absence from 'The Wendy Williams Show' four years ago due to health issues.
Suzanne Bass, the former co-executive producer of Williams’ show, broke the news on Instagram on Sunday, March 9, sharing a video call with the embattled star.
“Prepping a very special friend for her appearance @theviewabc to air this Friday. #freewendy,” Bass captioned the post.

It remains unclear whether Williams’ 'The View' appearance was set to be in person or conducted remotely.
Given Monday’s shocking turn of events, it is uncertain whether she will still be able to go through with the highly anticipated return.
