NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Eric Stonestreet reveals how he convinced his girlfriend to say "yes" to the proposal.

The ‘Modern Family’ star in his appearance on ‘Today’ with Holda and Jenna talked about his wedding plans. "I proposed," he began.

"I tricked her pretty well. I convinced her that a company was interested in us working together on an ad campaign. So, we were doing a little test video and I had the camera set up in front of her."

Eric, who got engaged to Jenna in August 2021, continued, "And then in the middle of it, I just pulled out the ring," he continued. "So it was all captured. She was in hair and makeup."

Eric's fiance said 'no!'

The actor spilled the beans on the proposal, which didn’t go down well at once. "At first she said no, and then I talked her into it. It was great. It all turned out great!"

Eric told People in September that the couple is planning to build a home in Kansas City, Kansas. "We're not in wedding planning now; we're building a house. I think what we've decided we want to do is build a nice house to host a wedding," he said

"That's the goal — to have our friends be able to come and enjoy a nice party and a great time," he added. "You know, I don't know how often I'm gonna get all my friends to Kansas City. So I would like to do a housewarming and a wedding at the same time. I think that would be great."

Eric added humorously when speaking to the outlet, saying, "I find pleasure in waking up, inspecting the progress, and tending to the property. I mean, I've tackled a considerable amount of grass mowing.

"This year I've become very proficient at knowing trails ... I have my own little UTV that I drive around and cut limbs off so I can go under trees," he further said. "I would say the highlight has just been working and trying to make that place really perfect."

Commending Jenna in his own words, Eric expressed, "She's simply a wonderful person and an excellent mother."

"I joke all the time that she's uniquely qualified to be my fiancee because she can put up with me."
