WASHINGTON, D.C.: During a press call held by the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign this week, media outlets were chided for their coverage of former President Donald Trump's stance on abortion.

The campaign's manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, along with Brooke Goren, the deputy communications director, and Kaitlyn Kash, convened on Zoom to address Trump's abortion policy, according to a report from Fox News.

Goren said in her opening remarks, "Trump kept his word to overturn Roe in his last term, and he will not rest until he has banned abortion across the entire country. Period.”

She continued, "We all know this and the coverage needs to reflect it. Yet today, we're still reading headlines that say Trump, quote, 'declines to endorse a national abortion ban,' that Trump, quote, 'rebuffed pressure to the campaign on a national limit,' that Trump, quote, 'decided to punt the politically fraught issue to the states and not back a national abortion ban.'"

Her particular references seemed to be to articles published by CNN, The Washington Post, and The Associated Press this week.

What else did the press call from the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign entail this week?

Prior to the Biden campaign’s press call, former President Donald Trump had made it clear that he was in favor of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and that states should be allowed to choose their own abortion laws, provided that there are exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.

Trump declared in a video posted to Truth Social, "The states will determine by vote, or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land – in this case, the law of the state.”

"Many states will be different. Many states will have a different number of weeks…at the end of the day it is all about the will of the people," the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee asserted.

An article stating that former President Donald Trump is against a federal abortion ban and will instead leave it up to the "will of the people" was flagged by the Biden-Harris staffer as a "particularly egregiously false headline."

The observation seemed to be directed against USA Today, which published the article with the headline, "'The will of the people': Trump opposes national abortion ban; says states should decide."

"Trump didn't decline anything and all he did was take credit again for the nightmare he created. That's the news that's important here," Goren contended.

The original headline was photographed by Mediaite, which reported that "around two hours after the conference call, the old headline was deleted and replaced."

"Donald Trump says states should decide abortion policy, avoids talk of a national ban," read the updated headline.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, USA Today said headline modifications are "not uncommon" for breaking news.

"Our mission is to report the facts as accurately as possible. As part of our routine editorial process with breaking news, headline updates are not uncommon. In this instance, the headline was updated to more precisely reflect the story," their statement read.

On Monday, President Joe Biden weighed in on the subject as well, telling attendees at a Chicago fundraiser, "No one trusts Donald Trump."

Additionally, he asserted that if a national abortion ban were to reach his desk, Trump would sign it.

Internet appalled by Biden campaign reprimanding media outlets

People on X called out the Democratic campaign arm of President Joe Biden's team for castigating major media outlets in the country over their coverage of former President Donald Trump's position on abortion in the lead-up to the November general election.

One X user remarked, "Biden is 'protecting democracy' by pressuring the media to censor his opponents comments." [sic]

Another user said, "The irony of scolding news outlets for covering Trump's abortion stance is truly comical."

Another user claimed, "Biden still pushing censorship."

One user wrote, "Biden is mad because he just got caught in yet another LIE. Abortion is the only thing he can run on, and the media just ruined it for him! What a clown!!"

Another X user asked, "What is Biden, a dictator?"

One more user tweeted, "Biden must be so upset when the media speaks the truth. Biden goes against GOD's law when he supports abortion, which is the murder of unborn innocent babies. Our Constitution guarantees them the right to life!"
