NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA: GOP candidate Nikki Haley continued to voice her optimism during a campaign rally in South Carolina on Wednesday, January 24, just one day after a disappointing loss in New Hampshire.

The former governor announced that her campaign had successfully raised a million dollars in a single day.

"We have raised a million dollars since I gave that speech last night," Haley said. "Online, in small dollars. We have had 200,000 donors from all 50 states, 95% of those donations are $200 or less. This is about real Americans."

Donald Trump threatens to blacklist Nikki Haley's donors

However, the moment of triumph was clouded by a threat from former President Donald Trump, who took to Truth Social to declare a blacklist on anyone contributing to Haley's presidential campaign.

Trump warned that those making donations to Haley would be "permanently barred from the MAGA camp." “When I ran for Office and won, I noticed that the losing Candidate’s ‘Donors’ would immediately come to me, and want to ‘help out.’ This is standard in Politics, but no longer with me,” he wrote.

“Anybody that makes a ‘Contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!” Trump added, without specifying if the warning extended to contributions to a pro-Haley political action committee.

Undeterred by the threat, Haley responded by inviting people to contribute to her candidacy, posting on social media, "Well in that case…donate here. Let’s Go!" alongside a link to a fundraising site.

NBC News confirmed that Haley, amid her fundraising efforts, will be in New York City for multiple Wall Street fundraisers on Monday and Tuesday.

Despite her setback in New Hampshire, she has nearly a dozen fundraisers scheduled between now and the South Carolina primary, prompting insiders to question the feasibility of these events.

Among the upcoming fundraisers is a high-profile event on January 30 in New York City, co-hosted by billionaires including Leonard Stern, Cliff Asness, Stanley Druckenmiller, Ken Langone, and Henry Kravis.

Silicon Valley mogul Tim Draper is set to host Haley in Atherton, Calif, on February 6, while on February 15, she will be feted in Dallas by real estate tycoon Harlan Crow, per the New York Post.

Notably, despite trailing Trump by 30 percentage points in her home state of South Carolina, Haley remains undeterred. Trump's campaign, finishing the third quarter of 2023 with over $37 million on hand, outpaces Haley's campaign, which finished the quarter with more than $11 million, according to FEC filings.

Social media reactions

Haley was trolled on social media after she announced her campaign had raised a million dollars in a single day.

"What a waste of money," one posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"Might as well just light that money on fire," another quipped.

"How many of these new donors are Democrats?" someone else wondered.

"Nikki Haley has No Chance and will lose over and over again! She had Democrats voting for her in New Hampshire and got annihilated! Her actions show exactly who she is!" another chimed in.

Despite the setbacks, Haley remains resolute in her commitment to the campaign. "We are not gonna sit there and just give up," she asserted. "We're gonna fight."

During her speech, Haley reiterated two central campaign points: her belief that Trump "attracts chaos" and her confidence in defeating Joe Biden in a November matchup, despite recent polls showing a tight race.

The former UN ambassador remains focused on the remaining 48 states yet to cast their votes.
