CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu reiterated his vow to support Republican frontrunner Donald Trump if he becomes the presidential nominee.

Speaking to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell on Monday, January 15, Sununu doubled down on his pledge stating, "I'm going to support the Republican nominee."

"Guys, look at what Biden has done! This 'Bidenomics' is crushing middle-American families here in New Hampshire. Everything from fuel prices to supply chain issues," he added. Doubling down on his pledge to vote for Trump, he claimed Biden's "bad job" made the ex-President's challenge easy.

The New Hampshire Governor endorsed Nikki Haley's presidential race in December 2023. Since then, the Republican frontrunner has made scathing remarks against Sununu.

Chris Sununu says Trump is 'scared'

Before admitting his support for Trump's potential presidential nomination, Sununu slammed his campaign, accusing him of being "scared" of Haley's rising polls.

"He's not strong," the Governor declared. "He's scared to be called on his record. He won't get on a debate stage with her. He won't do any of the things you need to do to connect with voters. It's the sign of the times for Donald Trump. The beginning of the end."

Nevertheless, Trump has had a resounding victory in Iowa. The latest reports by CNN say the former President has secured 51% votes, followed by Ron DeSantis at 21.2% and Haley finished in third place with 19.1% votes.

While the former South Carolina Governor's vote share did not align with Sununu's second position prediction, her popularity has notably surged.

Internet reacts to Chris Sununu's remarks

Outraged over Sununu's intention to back Trump's potential GOP nomination, netizens slammed him over the lack of self-respect and cowardice.

One user questioned, "So what is he afraid of, what's trump got on him?"

Another user labeled Sununu as "A man afraid of the MAGAs and his future inthe GOP."

"Sununu has ruined NH due to cowardice. He's a coward saying he'd vote for trump," added a third user.

A fourth user remarked, "Chis Sununu has no self-respect." Another reaction read, "These people have no moral core or integrity."

One user wrote, "Another Republican politician who admits that he so desperately needs the conservative extremist vote to maintain power that he’s willing to support a criminal who promises to be an authoritarian dictator."

"Soooo…. what does TFG have on Sununu?? Didn’t he used to be a “reasonable” Republican a while back??" asked another user.
