WASHINGTON, DC: In a late Saturday post on January 13, GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took to the public forum to respond to a scathing attack launched by none other than former President Donald Trump.

Ramaswamy gave a measured response, eschewing what he termed "friendly fire," yet issuing a stark warning to voters to "open their eyes" to the unfolding political landscape.

Acknowledging Trump's Legacy

"Yes, I saw President Trump’s Truth Social post. It’s an unfortunate move by his campaign advisors, I don’t think friendly fire is helpful," Ramaswamy wrote in a late Saturday, January 13 post on X (formerly Twitter). "Donald Trump was the greatest President of the 21st century, and I’m not going to criticize him in response to this late attack," he continued.

Defending himself against Trump's accusation of not being part of the MAGA movement, Ramaswamy said, "I’m worried for Trump. I’m worried for our country. I’ve stood up against the persecutions against Trump, and I’ve defended him at every step."

"I showed up at the Miami courthouse in solidarity following his first federal indictment. I filed a FOIA demand to the Biden DOJ. I submitted an amicus brief this week with the U.S. Supreme Court calling on them to overturn Colorado’s ruling," Ramaswamy continued. "I pledged to remove myself from Maine’s & Colorado’s primary ballots if they remove Trump, calling on DeSantis and Haley to do the same."

Turning his attention to the political landscape, Ramaswamy launched a pointed attack on presidential candidate Nikki Haley, labeling her as the left's 'puppet' and passionately encouraging voters to exercise discernment in their choices.

"But we have to open our eyes. Last time it was a man-made pandemic & Big Tech election interference," he wrote.  "Now, the same billionaires funding the lawsuits against Trump are the ones trying to prop up Nikki Haley. The same MSM blasting Trump is lavishing praise on Nikki," Ramaswamy said.

"They want to narrow this to a two-horse race between Trump & Haley, eliminate Trump (one way or other), & trot their puppet into the White House," he explained. "We can’t fall for that trap. 1 year from now, we won’t look back and say we were shocked that it happened. We’ll kick ourselves for not stopping it."

The prominent biotech multimillionaire concluded his response by asserting that the "America First" movement did not commence in 2016 but in 1776.

"Our movement must live on. America-First didn’t start in 2016. It started in 1776," Ramaswamy said. "We owe it to our Founding Fathers to do the right thing for our country. I want to save Trump & to save this country. Let’s do it together," he declared.

"You won’t hear any friendly fire from me," he asserted.

Ramaswamy's campaign conveyed a statement to Fox News, addressing the potential scenario of Trump being removed from the presidential ballot.

"Just because it’s wrong doesn’t mean it won’t happen & we owe it to our nation to take America-First forward," the campaign stated.

Trump's criticism, as articulated through a Truth Social post, centered on his perception that Ramaswamy had transitioned from being a staunch supporter to employing what he deemed "deceitful campaign tricks."

"Vivek started his campaign as a great supporter, ‘the best President in generations,’ etc.," Trump wrote Saturday evening. "Unfortunately, now all he does is disguise his support in the form of deceitful campaign tricks. Very sly."

"A vote for Vivek is a vote for the 'other side' — don’t get duped by this. Vote for "TRUMP," the former president insisted. "Don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA."

Social media reactions

Ramaswamy was slammed on social media after he refused to counter Trump's attack.

"Who do you really work for?? Yourself or someone else??" one user responded on X.

"If he is such a great president, why are you running against him?" another wrote.

"It wasn't his campaign advisers. It was him. You poked the bear," a comment read.

"Your attempt to poach Trump votes will fail," someone else added.

"If you won’t stand up to Trump, there’s no way you’d ever stand up to Putin, or anyone else. Fight back, or drop out. Make your choice. We’re watching," another insisted.
