PARIS, FRANCE: Westchester native, Katherine Cadwallader Douglass, aka Kate Douglass, who is presently involved with Jared Rayman, captured the gold medal for Team USA with an impressive performance in the 200-meter breaststroke.

She edged out 2021 Olympic champion Tatjana Smith at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday, August 1, which marks Douglass’ second Olympics. 

This achievement follows Katie Ledecky's setting of a new world record in the pool at the 2024 Paris Olympics, solidifying her status as the greatest swimmer of all time.

Kate Douglass graduated from Pelham Memorial High School in 2019 and joined the NCAA-winning team at the University of Virginia. Her recent victory marked her second medal at the 2024 Games, as she also contributed to Team USA's silver in the women’s 4x100 meter freestyle relay on the opening night of the Olympics.

After her impressive performance, Douglass shared her excitement with reporters: “I’m really excited. For a while I wasn’t sure if Olympic Champion was going to be possible for me to say and now it’s just really exciting to see if it happens.”

On Thursday, Douglass set a new American record in her event, shaving off 0.06 seconds from her previous record set in January 2024, as per the New York Post.

Douglass first gained recognition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley. Her impressive career also includes 21 medals at the World Championships, with 9 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze.

During her time representing the University of Virginia at the NCAA Championships from 2019 to 2023, Douglass achieved remarkable success, including one gold and six silver medals in 2021, and dominating with seven gold medals in both 2022 and 2023. She was also honored with the Honda Sports Award as the best college female swimmer in 2022 and 2023.

Kate Douglass and Jared Rayman have reportedly been together since at least September 2023, when he first made an appearance on her Instagram.

Like Douglass, Rayman is an accomplished athlete. Born in 2001 in Atlanta to Rosalinda and Steve Rayman, he has an older brother named Justin. Rayman attended Pace Academy High School, where he excelled as quarterback and team captain from 2017 to 2018.

He continued his athletic career at the University of Virginia, leading the Cavaliers as their quarterback from 2019 to 2023, as per CheatSheet.

As a senior, he threw for 2,500 yards and 22 touchdowns, rushed for 770 yards and 10 touchdowns, and earned MVP honors on offense before an injury ended his collegiate career.
