LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Greta Gerwig is reportedly all set to write and direct two 'Chronicles of Narnia' movies for Netflix. As production is expected to start this year, Deadline (via Baz Bamigboye) has provided the first scoop on casting.

According to Bamigboye, singer Olivia Rodrigo's new boyfriend, Louis Partridge, has been cast in the project but further details about the project have not been revealed.

Except for Partridge's casting, very little is known about Gerwig's 'Narnia' adaptation as of now, including which books will be made into movies.

Who is Louis Partridge?

Louis Partridge is a 21-year-old British actor and model who has appeared in 'Enola Holmes' films opposite Millie Bobby Brown. He also played the infamous Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious in the FX series 'Pistol'.

Olivia Rodrigo has been romantically linked to the British actor for a few months now. He also attended the singer's 'SNL' performance to encourage her.

Partridge was previously linked to Sydney Chandler, an actor who had a brief part in 'Don't Worry Darling' and is the daughter of 'Friday Night Lights' star Kyle Chandler, reported Teen Vogue.

Video of Partridge and Rodrigo holding hands during the 81st Venice Film Festival, where the actor's limited series for Apple TV+ titled 'Disclaimer' is being screened, recently surfaced online.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the couple's first formal public appearance together, even though they did not pose together on the red carpet outside Palazzo del Cinema.

The couple was also photographed while out on a romantic evening at Tate McRae's stop during the singer's 'Think Later' world tour in London. Fans with seats adjacent undoubtedly observed the duo even though they maintained a low profile.

According to People, a few days following Rodrigo's surprise appearance with the 'No Doubt' actor at Coachella 2024, the duo had dinner together in Los Angeles. They appeared in pictures together with quasi-matching checkered ensembles.

Partridge does not belong to an acting family. In an interview with Glass Magazine published in September 2020, he said, "My dad always wanted to be an actor, so I sometimes feel like he’s living vicariously through me. But yeah, he didn’t become an actor."

Partridge, the only cast member currently associated with the movie's IMDb page, is set to play Digory Kirke—providing the initial indication of the route Gerwig's adaptation will go.

Kirke makes an appearance in the 1955 novel 'The Magician's Nephew' by CS Lewis, which is a prequel to the series set a millennium before 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe' and tells the story of Narnia's birth through Aslan.

In addition, Partridge is also set to appear in Noah Baumbach's forthcoming Netflix movie, which also stars Gerwig, reported Men's Journal.

For the unversed, Netflix first revealed in 2018 that it will be adapting the 'Narnia' books, which means it has been six years since they first bought them.

The New Yorker revealed on July 2, 2023, that Greta Gerwig would be writing and directing a minimum of two Netflix movies based on the 'Chronicles of Narnia' books.

There are three Disney films based on CS Lewis' seven children's books—'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe', 'Prince Caspian', and 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'.

Gerwig stated during her interview on the 'Total Film Podcast' (per Cosmopolitan) that she was both "scared" and "excited" to start work on the adaptation.

She said, "I haven’t even really started wrapping my arms around it, but I’m properly scared of it, which feels like a good place to start."

The 'Barbie' filmmaker added, "I think when I’m scared, it’s always a good sign. Maybe when I stop being scared, it’ll be like, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t do that one.’ No, I’m terrified of it. It’s extraordinary. And it’s exciting."

But given 'Barbie' and Gerwing's other films, which focus on examining the female experience, many fans anticipate the character of Susan, the second eldest Pevensie sibling, to have a major role in the productions.
