MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: As the government shutdown entered day 9, Whoopi Goldberg and her co‑hosts on 'The View,' discussed current events during their Thursday, October 9 broadcast. There, they were surprised by the words of Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

In a CNN clip that the hosts viewed, Taylor Greene was heard saying at the 1.02 minute mark, "Let's take off our Democrat jerseys, let's take off our Republican jerseys. We should do something responsible for the American people and fix this."

Goldberg was surprised by the statement and praised the Georgia representative as the "voice of reason."

During the Thursday broadcast of 'The View,' the hosts were discussing the ongoing government shutdown.

This included watching and commenting on the clips of government officials from both the political parties, who seemed to be blaming each other for the shutdown.

However, Greene said in an interview with CNN, that this was a bipartisan issue that needed to be resolved.

She implied that the politicians would have to stop defending their sides, and think about the people they are representing.

Goldberg, who looked surprised by her statement, told the audience, “That was Marjorie Taylor Greene, and she seems to be the only one responding to her constituents.”

The host added, “Because her constituents are saying, ‘Excuse me, we are being affected by what’s happening here.’"

"She is in not a rich district; she’s in a poor district, and her people are saying, ‘This is affecting us. Either you get us some help, or we’re gonna put you out,'” she continued.

“This is your job,” Goldberg then added, before pointing out, “She is the voice of reason here. What the hell is going on?”

Alyssa Griffin also agreed with Goldberg's views on Greene

Alyssa Farah Griffin also echoed Goldberg’s stance with a proverb that perfectly captured the moment on the show.

She said, “It’s a dark day when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason. You know what they say about a blind squirrel… A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then."

Griffin noted that she strongly opposes government shutdowns, but especially this one because “the power of the presidency is growing to be too much.”

Greene shared her stance on rapidly rising health insurance premiums for Americans

This isn't the only time Greene has urged others to come together and advocate for Americans.

Taking to X, Greene also expressed her stance on rising health insurance premiums, saying, "I’m going to go against everyone on this issue because when the tax credits expire this year my own adult children’s insurance premiums for 2026 are going to DOUBLE, along with all the wonderful families and hard-working people in my district."

She added, "No I’m not towing the party line on this, or playing loyalty games. I’m a Republican and won’t vote for illegals to have any tax payer funded healthcare or benefits."

Greene later added, "WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE ABSOLUTELY INSANE COST OF INSURANCE FOR AMERICANS."
