NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg said on Wednesday, October 22, that American taxpayers' money will be used for the renovation of the new White House ballroom.

She made the statement while discussing President Donald Trump demanding that the Justice Department pay him about $230 million in compensation for the federal investigations into him.

Whoopi Goldberg calls Trump’s White House ballroom funding 'a cash grab'

During Wednesday’s segment of the show, Whoopi Goldberg addressed viewers and said, "You know yesterday who was asked about demanding up to $230 million in damages over the past federal investigations against him. Which just happens to be the price tag of the ballroom. What a coincidence!"

She then played a video of Donald Trump saying, "If I get money from our country, I will do something nice like give it to charity or give it to the White House while we restore the White House. We are doing a great job. As you know, the ballroom is under construction. All I know is they would owe me a lot of money, but I am not looking for money."

After the clip, Goldberg continued, "So, this will also be decided by some of the same Justice Department lawyers who worked with him on these past cases. So Americans, the question is, are you on board with all of this? This is like a cash grab. And your taxes are probably going to be paying for that ballroom. I mean, it’s kind of cooky."

Meanwhile, co-host Joy Behar chimed in and said, "He says he is going to give it to charity. He claims he gives his $400,000 salary to charity, but it so happens that according to The New Yorker, the Trump family has made over $3.4 billion since he first entered the White House in 2017. So, oh, he is so generous to give his partly 400Gs away."

Interestingly, according to the White House, the multimillion-dollar White House ballroom project is being funded entirely by private donors rather than taxpayers’ money.

Some of the confirmed private donors include Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, Blackstone CEO Stephen A. Schwarzman, YouTube, Google, and Alphabet.

Moreover, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta Platforms, Apple, Coinbase, Comcast, T-Mobile, the Adelson Family Foundation, and crypto investors Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are also listed as potential donors for the project.

Furthermore, Trump will also use a portion of his personal wealth, derived from real estate and other ventures valued at $7.1 billion, to help finance the new space.

Internet slams Whoopi Goldberg

Several internet users slammed Whoopi Goldberg after she claimed that American taxpayers' money will be used for the renovation of the new White House ballroom.

A user wrote on X, "Sue her," while one added, "I don't mind paying for the new ballroom, just to pi** them off."

A person also stated, "What happened to her? I used to be a fan. These people are not stupid, they can read. They're simply shilling a provably false lie," whereas one mentioned, "Truth. They lie flat out or by omission. But it is literally all they've got."

Another user wrote, "I bet she even says the weight loss she’s experienced is due to exercise and healthy eating. Sure Whoopi," while one commented, "I see another lawsuit in the works against 'The View'."

A person also mentioned, "Liars one and all. This intentional misleading of the public should be against the law," whereas one added, "Her audience is programmed to receive the lie and propagate it."
