Will Smith raps about Chris Rock Oscars slap in first album in 20 years: 'I'll never forgive him'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Will Smith is not avoiding the controversy that made headlines worldwide.
The actor and rapper has released his first album in 20 years, 'Based on a True Story,' in which he addresses the 2022 Oscars incident where he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage.

Will Smith’s new album features the track 'Int. Barbershop — Day,' which begins with the words, “Will Smith is canceled.”
The song includes Smith’s longtime collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff and social media influencer B Simone.
Multiple voices are heard discussing Smith in the opening lines. One voice states, “I heard he won the Oscar but he had to give it back/ And you know they only made him do that s**t because he’s Black.”
That same night, Smith won the best actor Oscar for his role in 'King Richard.' Although he was banned from Academy events, he was not required to return his award.
Other voices join in, questioning, “Who the f**k Will Smith think he is?” and “I ain’t never going to forgive him for that s**t he did," reported People.

Due to the conduct, he got banned for 10 years from the Academy Awards.
The track also references Smith’s outburst at Rock when another voice in the song says, “Him and Jada both crazy girl, what you talkin’ bout?/ You better keep his wife’s name out of your mouth.”
He later resigned from the Academy, stating that he fully accepted “any and all consequences for my conduct.”
'Took a lot, I’m back on top,' raps Will Smith
Another track on the album, 'You Lookin’ for Me?,' features Will Smith referencing the aftermath of the Oscars incident.
He raps, “Took a lot, I’m back on top/ Y’all gon’ have to get acclimated/ Won’t stop, my s**t still hot/ Even though I won’t get nominated.”
Smith first announced his return to music in January when he released his single 'Beautiful Scars,' a collaboration with Big Sean featuring Obanga.
'Based on a True Story' marks his first album since 2005’s 'Lost and Found.'
