Witnesses question ICE tactics after Minnesota shooting: 'Not how we're supposed to do things'
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Witnesses who saw the fatal shooting of a woman during an ICE raid in Minnesota aren’t buying the official story.
They say what they witnessed didn’t justify that level of force, and now the whole neighborhood feels rattled.
One neighbor says he was home when it all went down right next door. He heard a commotion, then whistles, and suddenly gunshots rang out.
The Minneapolis community has erupted in anger and sadness after 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent during a confrontation.
‘It’s not how we’re supposed to do things here’
One nearby resident said he was inside his home when the incident began with loud commotion and whistling outside, followed by several gunshots.
Minneapolis witness: “I’m pretty right-leaning, but seeing this, this is not what you need to do. It’s not how we’re supposed to do things around here in America.”

Looking out of his window, he saw a crashed vehicle and soon learned that a woman had been shot and killed during the ICE operation at the house next door.
“830 this morning I was just getting up and I heard a bunch of commotion and whistling outside and then I heard bang, bang, bang, three shots,” he said.
He continued saying, “I went to go look out the window and it looked like there was a Honda over there that crashed and I found out it was an observer that got shot and killed and I saw them carry it.”
“I got a bunch of video of them carrying the body to the ambulance and stuff, so it was an observer that got shot at an ICE raid at the house next door,” he continued.
“It's not how we're supposed to do things around here in America,” he slammed on the situation.
He talked about how the law enforcement presence just exploded.
At first, he guessed maybe 20 agents were there, but suddenly it felt like hundreds had shown up. Authorities locked down the whole area and started clearing people out of their homes nearby.
Another witness disputes self-defense claim
Trevor Heitkamp, another eyewitness, pushed back against what the Department of Homeland Security said about the ICE agent shooting in self-defense.
Heitkamp told CNN he was right in front of his house when he heard the commotion. He pulled out his phone and started recording as everything played out just down the street.
As he got closer, Heitkamp said a red SUV was turned 'mostly sideways in the road' to obstruct ICE agents, who shouted at the driver to move the car, he told CNN.
“The car backed up slowly and proceeded to pull forward pretty slowly,” while witnesses shouted in protest, he said.
“Then the agent who fired the weapon was on the opposite side of the car to me and I heard four, possibly five, shots, and then the car sped forward because… this person’s injured and their foot went down,” Heitkamp said.
The fatal shooting has intensified scrutiny of ICE enforcement practices, particularly in residential neighborhoods.
