MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who took the stand on Monday, May 13, to testify against him in his criminal hush money trial revealed how Trump was worried about Stormy Daniels and election campaign but less about his wife Melania Trump.

Cohen, who accepted he was Trump's "fixer," also testified how he kept in touch with Trump and gave him immediate updates about his hush money scheme with Daniels.

Donald Trump was not worried about Melania Trump

Cohen testified that he instantaneously updated Trump about the hush-money schemes at every turn to “get credit.”

Besides, Trump also told him to push the story about his affair with Daniels past 2016 presidential elections. He asked him to “push it out as long as you can, past the election, because if I win, I’ll be president, and if I lose, I wont really care.”

Cohen also recalled that his former boss dismissed any reason for being worried about his wife Melania over Daniels' story.

The former attorney also testified he asked Trump, “How things gonna go upstairs?” referring to Melania Trump to which he replied, “Don’t worry. How long do you think I’ll be on the market for? Not long,”

"He wasn’t thinking about Melania. It was all about the campaign," Cohen said as per the Guardian.

Donald Trump called Stormy Daniels' story a 'disaster' for his 2016 election campaign

The former president was frustrated by Daniels' story resurfacing because he thought Cohen had dealt with the matter previously.

In May 2011, Daniels claimed she had a sexual encounter with Trump with InTouch magazine, but the publication held back the interview after Trump's lawyer threatened to sue them, as per AP. The story finally came out in 2018.

Cohen said Trump was “really angry” with him. "I thought you had this under control. I thought you took care of this," he testified Trump told him at the time.

He was also concerned that women would “hate” him if the story was published.

“This is a disaster, a f**** disaster," Trump told him according to Cohen. “Women are going to hate me."

Cohen said Trump at the time was polling “very poorly” with women because of the 'Access Hollywood' tape and Trump feared it would be a "disaster."

"Guys will think it's cool, but this is going to be a disaster for the campaign," Trump said as per Cohen's testimony, NBC News reported

"He told me to work with David [Pecker],” Cohen said. "We needed to stop this from getting out," he testified.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's concern to silence Stormy Daniels' story

The Internet is abuzz with reactions over Michael Cohen's testimony revealing how Trump felt concerned about it being a 'disaster' for his campaign.

"He is half correct. Everyone will hate him and no one will think it’s cool," wrote one in X referring to Trump calling himself cool.

"He thinks women hated him then!! Wait til November 2024," commented another X user.

"All Trump was thinking about how the Stormy Daniels story will hurt his Campaign and not his wife Melania!" one more wrote with another adding, "'Guys will think I’m cool' Dear god."
