'The Vampire Diaries’ star took to her Instagram on Monday, May 20, to inform her fans about the horrifying accident she went through.

Taking to her Instagram, Dobrev shared two photos of her with the catchy caption, “How it started vs how it’s going 🤕.”

While the first post in the carousel shows Dobrev sitting atop an electric bike, the second image shows the actress lying on the hospital bed with knee and neck braces.

The 35-year-old actress continued to give her fans updates about her injuries as she shared a selfie from her hospital bed on her Instagram Story, highlighting the braces, per Page Six.

While her frowning selfie might have worried her fans, the actress assured her well-wishers in the next slide by writing, “I’m ok but it’s going to be a long road of recovery ahead ❤️‍🩹🤕.”

In her characteristic humor, she added later, “I think it’s safe to say my first time on a dirt bike will also be my last lol.”

As the Canadian actress shared the news one her social media, fans and friends flocked to the comments section to wish her speedy recovery. While a segment of fans joked about her 'Vampire Diaries' connection, another group pointed out the safety issues of an electric bike.

Several celebrities too showed their concern for her with her boyfriend Shaun White leading the charge. White said, "Just keeping things on brand ❤️."

Sophia Bush exclaimed, “Nooooo! You poor babe,” while Julianne Hough pointed out, “That’s my girl! 🫠Obviously wouldn’t make jokes if you were not ok…”

Claire Holt added, "Noooo so sorry! Feel better ❤️❤️❤️."

One of the fans quipped though, "You aren’t a vampire anymore Nina😂❤️😭."

Fans commented about her health on other social media as well, with some of them commenting on Facebook, "Praying for a speedy recovery 🙏."

Fans continued with the 'Vampire Diaries' references as they said, "I'm sure Damon will give her blood, she will b fine."

"Not the neck!" chimed in someone else.

Another fan added, "Where are Damon and Stefan at!"

However, a social media user said, "Need speed limiters to 15 mph. Riders think they don't have to stop but others do."

The same idea was propagated by another user, who said, "Those things are seriously fast no e-bike should be able to go 85mph.."

"Is it not about time for people to realise that the e-bike is a death trap. There are more accidents since the sales of this riding trend than when the bicycle was invented," said someone else.

Another fan advocated for wearing helmets, saying, "They go fast. You should wear protection like in a motorbike!!"
