WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden earned the ire of the Internet as he took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a post about gun control on Sunday, March 3, at a time when the border crisis has left many Americans worrying about their safety.

The POTUS noted that his administration was working toward banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in line with the executive orders he issued related to the subject.

Joe Biden says his administration is going to 'finish the job' of banning assault weapons

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Biden wrote, "I've taken more executive actions to stop the flow of illegal guns than any other administration in history."

"We beat the NRA when I signed the most significant gun safety law in nearly 30 years," boasted the POTUS, before concluding, "We’re going to finish the job and ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines."

Back in March 2023, the White House announced Biden's goal of "increasing the number of background checks conducted before firearm sales, moving the US as close to universal background checks as possible without additional legislation."

His order further aimed to "keep more guns out of dangerous hands by increasing the effective use of 'red flag' laws, strengthen efforts to hold the gun industry accountable, and accelerate law enforcement efforts to identify and apprehend the shooters menacing ... communities."

The Biden administration also announced new executive actions to help promote the safe storage of firearms in late January.

Internet reacts to President Joe Biden's post on gun control

The responses to Biden's post showed a majority of the netizens were displeased with his gun control efforts at present when the border security crisis was looming as a far more pressing issue.

"Disarming the American population while you keep the borders open. Great! You hate Americans!" exclaimed one. Another jibed, "What if the gun comes in through the southern border seeking asylum?"

A person expressed, "After a half century 'War on Drugs,' you can't keep drugs off the streets, you can't keep drugs out of elementary schools, you can't even keep drugs out of federal prison, or the White House. Yet, you want me to disarm myself and trust that YOU can keep guns from criminals?"

Someone else remarked, "And yet, you refuse to do anything about the border crisis without an act of Congress."

"So let me get this straight. Millions of illegals immigrants, gangs and criminals are flowing through the Southern border and you want to ban guns now? How does that protect Americans or US interests? Seems like the opposite," said an individual.
