'You should resign': Mike Johnson faces backlash after thanking 50 Cent for investing in Shreveport

WASHINGTON, DC: House Speaker Mike Johnson faced people's wrath online as he met with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and thanked him for his contribution to the Shreveport community. 

The television producer visited Capitol Hill on Wednesday, June 5 to discuss minority representation in the multi-billion dollar spirits industry with lawmakers, USA Today reported.

50 Cent to build G-Unit Studios in Shreveport

During their meeting, Johnson expressed his gratitude for the rapper’s investment in the Louisiana city of Shreveport and the community, as reported by KSLA 12 News.

As per reports, 50 Cent has signed a contract to take over Millennium Studios in downtown Shreveport. He is planning to build his G-Unit Studios there.

Taking to Instagram, the 48-year-old businessman wrote, “Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R) my fellow Shreveport friend said he is happy to see me making things happen creating lots of jobs. @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.”

The 52-year-old politician also shared a photo with 50 Cent on X and said, “We are grateful to @50cent for investing in the Shreveport community — looking forward to seeing all he will do for North Louisiana!”



 

Netizens ask Mike Johnson to ‘resign’

However, it got more hate than praise as a critic of the 56th speaker tweeted, “Did he ask you why you failed to close the border?”



 

Another critic said, “50 Cent would be better at securing the border than you.”

A fifth one added, “He’s doing more to save America than you are!! Resign and let 50 be the speaker .. fake Christian.”



 

“Hope @50cent washed his hands after this photo op,” an individual posted.



 

Another one commented, “Considering you're being paid to do the job, the people were looking forward to see what you would do, but I guess we need to rely on celebrities and not the nominated candidates 🤔. Got it!!”

Meanwhile, 50 Cent shared his experience in Washington, DC, as he reportedly said, “My experience here has been great. I went to talk to them about economic opportunities for everybody, and it’s really exciting. The response I got makes me feel like there are bright days ahead of us.”

But some of the comments below his Instagram post read, “We love 50. We dislike Mike,” “Delete this,” “Tell him to quit making laws based on his archaic beliefs,” and “Damn Dawg. You taking photos with the klan. Johnson probably talking s**t about Ben Crump.”
