WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump on Tuesday, January 20, asserted that his security initiatives have reached a point where “your lover’s not gonna be killed anymore,” a shift he claimed has earned him gratitude from “a lot of people in the media.”

Trump made the remarks during a wide-ranging White House briefing held to mark the first anniversary of his second term and highlight what he described as the major achievements of his administration.

Donald Trump opened the meeting by focusing on crime and public safety in the nation’s capital, displaying several mugshots to praise the work of immigration officers.

He claimed these efforts have transformed the city from a dangerous place into one where people can move freely without fear.

Trump said, "DC. was a very, very dangerous place, and I think you probably know better than I do. I have a lot of people in the media thanked me for that, but some of them found it hard to thank me…”

He added, “DC is now - look how beautiful - DC is now, you can walk right from here to a restaurant to right through the center of town. You can be with your child, with your loved one, with your lover. Your lover’s not going to be killed anymore, so you can act like a real lover."
