NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News anchor Sean Hannity claimed that the Democratic Party was losing ground even in the states where they have long enjoyed steady support, on Friday, May 17.

Citing the crowd at Donald Trump's New Jersey rally and incumbent Joe Biden agreeing to debate the former President, Hannity stated that it was a sign of desperation from the Democrats to "make up ground."

Sean Hannity's statement on shifting support

"In every corner of the media mob, the Democratic Party, the anxiety is palpable. Even reliable blue states, they're now starting to look awfully purple," shared the anchor in his show on Fox News.

"One veteran pollster telling FoxNews.com both Minnesota and Virginia, they are clearly in play, by the way, even New Jersey is not an impossibility for Donald Trump. We saw a massive 80,000 plus person crowd for a rally there just last weekend."

The size of the crowd at the Trump rally at Wilwood, New Jersey on May 11, which Hannity noted, was the topic of a major debate, as many noted that the number of attendees being promoted by the Trump campaign was greatly exaggerated. GOP political operative Roger Stone was called out for posting a misleading image to back the numbers, which he later admitted and accused "liberals" of having "no sense of humor."

"And get this – Trump is up by double digits in the great state of Nevada," continued Hannity. "That's a state he previously lost twice. Now desperate to make up ground, Joe Biden finally agreed to debate Donald Trump. Obviously a sign of desperation."

"The (Biden) campaign has a list of demands and dictates, and will only debate Trump on a liberal anti-Trump woke network and not even consult with Trump," he later added, commenting on the scheduled presidential debates between the presumptive Democratic and Republican 2024 nominees. "Kamala Harris out there, meanwhile, already agreed to a vice presidential debate on CBS."

Internet disagrees with Sean Hannity's take

Netizens slammed the Fox News anchor while responding to his comments on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), as the following examples demonstrate.

"You're colorblind," wrote a user, while another jibed, "hannity is developing cataracts."

"That's going to make it even more embarrassing when Biden wins those states and many down ballot Republicans win too," stated one user.

"And you’re looking awfully green! We the people will put country & freedom over party! Just watch history being made in Roevember!" commented a user.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," cautioned one user.

"Dumb waste of time," chided one user.
