WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump dismissed any possibility of losing voters who supported his former Republican presidential opponent Nikki Haley in the primary elections, reported The Hill.

In an interview with Charles Benson on Scripps News on Tuesday, May 14, the soon-to-be official GOP nominee was asked whether he would woo those who voted for the former UN ambassador in primaries like Wisconsin.

"Well, she got very few voters relatively … I got almost, I guess, close to 90 percent," Trump claimed in response.

Haley, the former South Carolina governor, suspended her presidential race in March following the unimpressive outcome in the Super Tuesday primaries.

However, she was the only contender who managed to run against Trump, whereas others like Florida Gov Ron DeSantis and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy dropped out in January, endorsing the 45th president.

Trump expresses confidence in Nikki Haley's voters coming to him

Claiming Haley had only "very few voters," Trump said, "And those voters are all coming to me, and you may have a lot of Democrats in there because they have a very tricky little system. But those voters are coming to me. We just did a poll where we're leading [President Biden] by a lot in Wisconsin … when I say a lot, we're leading by 2 or 3 points, we have one where we're leading him by 5 points."

The White House hopeful's confident remarks came after Haley managed to gain more voter support in the recent Republican primaries despite exiting the campaign in March.

For instance, she garnered 21% of the GOP votes in Indiana. Similarly, she amassed 20% of the vote in Maryland and Pennsylvania, 18% in Nebraska, and 9.4 % in West Virginia primaries, all of which happened in the past few weeks.

President Joe Biden had also attempted to bring the Haley voters to the Democratic side because of their discontent with Trump.

"Donald Trump made it clear he doesn't want Nikki Haley's supporters," the incumbent said in March. "I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign."

Furthermore, the Biden campaign also released an ad with clips where the former president criticized Haley during their primary contest. "If you voted for Nikki Haley, Donald Trump doesn't want your vote," the ad warned.

Despite Trump's confidence in attracting Haley's supporters, the former South Carolina governor remained firm in her commitment not to back Trump.

Unlike other former GOP presidential candidates such as DeSantis and Ramaswamy, who declared their support for the ex-president, Haley chose not to endorse Trump after exiting the race.

She hardly mentioned the MAGA spearhead at a recent donor retreat held to thank her contributors.

Last week Trump quashed all speculations surrounding Haley's vice presidential chances, declaring on Truth Social, "Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the VP slot, but I wish her well!"

Internet blasts Trump's narcissism

Netizens brutally slammed Trump's confidence in wooing the Haley voters, noting they would not vote for him.

One user wrote, "Whether they like it or not? Spoken like a true despot." Another remarked, "He is excruciatingly arrogant!! Talk about taking votes for granted!!! @NikkiHaley."

A user added, "His ego loses everything for him every single time." Meanwhile, someone else called Trump a "narcissist."

Another person said, "Then why haven’t they already? Haley hasn’t had an ad in over two months. She’s not even campaigning. Got news for you, Donnie, those votes aren’t going to you."

"Nope. He feeds his disgusting ignorant base the lies. Everyone else sees disgrace. #DonTheCon will never be POTUS," a response read. [sic]

An individual wrote, "The man is completely delusional."

Another user argued, "He sees himself as Godzilla! He thinks the people he’s corralled and every other republican have nowhere else to run because with Murdock’s help he’s corrupted everyone of them. He’s wrong in the worst possible way. Prison is coming!!!" [sic]
