'You’re the coolest': Anya Taylor-Joy praises Malcom McRae as she reveals they 'secretly' married 2 years ago

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Anya Taylor-Joy has publicly confirmed her marriage to musician and actor Malcolm McRae, revealing that they secretly married two years ago.

The 27-year-old 'The Menu' star took to Instagram to wish actor McRae, 29, a happy anniversary on Tuesday, April 2.

Taylor-Joy shared photos and video clips from their New Orleans wedding ceremony which reportedly occurred six months following their apparent Italian nuptials in Venice, according to Daily Mail. 

"Two years ago, on April Fools, I secretly married my best friend in New Orleans," Taylor-Joy wrote in the caption of Instagram post. 

"The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever," she recalled in the post.

She then went ahead to wish her husband McRae, "Happy second ( first ) anniversary my love…you’re the coolest (sic)."

"NB yes, those are anatomically correct heart cakes. Yes, I am the vampire Lestat," she added in reference to the photographs in the Instagram post.

Anya has hardly discussed her relationship with Malcolm since they started dating but have been spotted and photographed multiple times holding hands and kissing.

In March 2022 British Vogue interview, she said revealed how fond she was of McRae.

"I said to my partner the other day that he was my hobby. I see reading as something that I have to do. He loved it because he’s the same," Taylor-Joy said.

She further told the publication, "I’ve finally found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading. We’re basically 80 years old and seven at the same time and it works really well."

Discussing the distance, she remarked,  "Yes, it is [hard], but it’s also kind of great because when you’re together you’re really valuing the time that you have."

"Everyday mundane activities are so full of joy. I love going to the petrol station with him and filling up," she continued.  

Malcolm McRae also posted on Instagram and wrote, "I love you now and somehow I always have and somehow it will never end. Happy two year anniversary (yesterday), beautiful."

Anya Taylor-Joy's ascendancy in Hollywood

Anya’s journey was born in Miami, Florida, and at just six years old, she settled in London with her family due to political reasons.

She won a fan base from Beth Harmon in the hit Netflix show, 'The Queen’s Gambit.' This role earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her standout performance in a miniseries.

She also got Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the darkly humorous film 'The Menu' where she shared the screen with Nicholas Hoult and Ralph Fiennes.

Currently, she’s taking on the titular role in the much-anticipated action film 'Furiosa', a prequel to the acclaimed 'Mad Max: Fury Road' from 2015.
