LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Zack Snyder wants to narrate the story of young James Bond!

The celebrated filmmaker in his recent interview talked about the exciting possibility of bringing in a 20-year-old secret agent.

“It’d be cool to see, like, 20-year-old James Bond. The humble roots that he comes from. Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond,” Snyder said. “There has to be something there.”

Casting director on the next James Bond

The longtime Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams talked with Radio Times about why it is difficult to sign a new James Bond who is relatively younger.

“When we started, it was a slightly different feel,” McWilliams said referring to the last search for a new '007' when they picked Craig.

“We did look at a lot of younger actors, and I just don’t think they had the gravitas. They didn’t have the experience, they didn’t have the mental capacity to take it on, because it’s not just the part they’re taking on, it’s a massive responsibility.”

The franchise is yet to announce the director or an actor for the next 'James Bond' flick.

Coming to Snyder, his latest original is an IP ‘Rebel Moon,’ the first film of which is streaming on Netflix. Its second edition will be out in April 2024.

As Daniel Craig retired from his role as James Bond, concluding with the 2021 release 'No Time to Die,' the masterminds behind the franchise are actively crafting the next installment.

Who will direct the next edition of James Bond?

Despite Snyder expressing interest in a younger James Bond, speculation surrounding Tom Holland as a potential young secret service agent was quashed by the franchise producer.

Michael G Wilson said that the next Bond would be a “30-something” actor, the very age when Craig made his debut with ‘Casino Royale,’ reports Variety.

McWilliams further told Radio Times, "Timothy Dalton was known, but he was known as a Shakespearean actor. Pierce was known, but that was basically from television. Roger Moore was known on television. Sean Connery wasn't [known] – nobody had ever heard of him.”

"A certain audience had heard of Daniel Craig, but much more the kind of independent cinema audience. He hadn't done any huge commercial film at all, really – [2004 film] Layer Cake I suppose was the most popular, should we say, of the things he had done prior to Bond, but he wasn't a hugely well-known actor," he concluded.
