TOKYO, JAPAN: A flight from Tokyo to Seattle, operated by All Nippon Airways, was forced to make a U-turn over the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday night, January 16, because of a shocking act by a drunk passenger.

The inebriated passenger reportedly "sunk his teeth" into a flight attendant's arm, per USA Today

The passenger, a 55-year-old American on flight NH118, was described as "heavily drunk" when he sunk his teeth into the female crew member's arm, as reported by the Japanese airline to The Japan Times.

As the incident came to light, the startling act has been labeled as "The zombie Apocalypse" on the Internet.

Drunk passenger creates mid-flight horror

FlightAware indicated that the flight, which was supposed to last approximately nine hours, had only been airborne for an hour.

As per Kyodo News, the flight crew managed to restrain the unidentified passenger.

Upon the flight's return to Haneda Airport, local police reportedly took the passenger into custody.

The incident did not result in any injuries to other passengers on board.

The accused passenger denied the allegations when questioned by investigators, attributing his lack of memory of the assault to the effects of a sleeping pill, as reported by Kyodo News.

"The safety and security of our passengers and employees are ANA’s top priority and we will take all necessary actions to ensure it," an ANA represenative said.

The flight reportedly took off the following day, experiencing a delay of nearly 19 hours from its original departure time.

Earlier in the month, a flight operated by American Airlines was forced to divert due to another incident involving an inebriated passenger who repeatedly punched a flight attendant.

The passenger later claimed to have no recollection of the incident.

Also, the Internet was taken aback recently when a JetBlue passenger forced a Boston-bound flight to divert after proclaiming himself to be the "devil".

One user remarked, "Why can't people just be normal?"

Another user wrote, "People still be wilding out on planes wtf."

"Why couldn’t they just tie up the drunk rather than inconveniencing all the other passengers on the flight," a user asked.

A use shared a gif of a zombie and wrote, "Patient Zero."

"It's the Mile High Club for vampies." stated another.

"What the heck. Just STOP selling alcohol on flights," mentioned another.
