15 celebs who nailed their Halloween 2024 looks: From Selena Gomez to Sophie Turner

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The stars are going all-out this spooky season, from Anne Hathaway's embodiment of a dad joke to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's debut couples costume as Alice and the Mad Hatter.

A-listers also participated in extensive photo shoots to accompany their costumes. Janelle Monae, for instance, transformed herself into the alien ET from Steven Spielberg's iconic 1982 movie, unveiling the look on her Instagram and 'The Jennifer Hudson Show'.

1. Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco as Alice and the Mad Hatter

Selena Gomez wore a blonde wig and a light blue dress to channel Alice, while Benny Blanco opted for full makeup as Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter from Tim Burton's 2010 film adaptation of Lewis Carroll's novel, as per Billboard. The 'Only Murders in the Building' actress captioned the Instagram gallery, "Curiouser and curiouser.."

The couple's Instagram Stories also featured additional photos of their amazing dream attire. Gomez shared a clip from Disney's 1951 animated version of 'Alice in Wonderland', which seemed to have been the main inspiration behind her costume. 

2. Anne Hathaway as 'Boo York City'

The 'Devil Wears Prada' star channeled "Boo York City," which is a terrifying portrayal of the city that never sleeps, featuring a spectral Statue of Liberty. She captioned her early Halloween Instagram post, "🎃 🖤 Boo York City 👻 🗽."

3. Sophie Turner as Trinity

Sophie Turner channeled Trinity from 'The Matrix' with her tiny shades and elegant patent leather bodysuit. The 'Game of Thrones' alum abandoned her medieval roots and went all sci-fi with a costume that honors Carrie-Anne Moss' portrayal of Trinity. Turner's caption on Instagram read, "Red or blue pill." 

The 28-year-old had two toy guns strapped to each hip of a sleek, sensual leather bodysuit in the pictures. The outfit included knee-high black boots, matching black gloves, and a belt with a glittering gold clasp. The shorts and zipper accentuated her form with a plunging neckline.

4. Lizzo as 'LizzOzempic'

A recent 'South Park' special episode served as the inspiration for Lizzo's "LizzOzempic" Halloween costume. The singer posted a fictitious advertisement of herself with a hypothetical prescription box for a weight-loss medication, saying, "Ok Halloween… you can start now."

The 'South Park' episode title, 'The End of Obesity', which aired in May, humorously criticized the Ozempic craze by substituting Lizzo for the well-known drug.

Lizzo responded to 'South Park' by dancing to the show's jingle and turning off the camera in another post displaying the Halloween costume. She captioned the Instagram video, which had a cutout of Eric Cartman in the background, "Oh OH oh… it’s Lizzo b—."

5. Halle Berry as a witch

Halle Berry wore a velvet-blue gown with a slit skirt and silver crystals shaped like celestial patterns as part of a witch costume. She accessorized the outfit with leather boots, torn tights, and a matching pointed hat. Berry held her black cat in one arm for added spooky appeal. "No need for tricks when me and my little black kitty are the treat! 😉," read the caption of her Instagram post.

6. Coi Leray as Patience Philips

Coi Leray dressed up as Halle Berry's Catwoman for Halloween. Leray posted a series of photoshoot images on her Instagram with the caption, "Cat Women 🖤🎃 @halleberry 💋🖤."

7. Macaulay Culkin as Bengals QB Joe Burrow

Macaulay Culkin dressed himself as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow as a Halloween treat for fans who believe he looks like the NFL star. "Game on @joeyb_9," wrote Culkin on Instagram, sharing pictures of himself wearing a No 9 Bengals jersey with orange pants.

8. Kylie Jenner as Barbarella

Kylie Jenner celebrated Halloween a day early by dressing up like Jane Fonda's character from the 1968 movie 'Barbarella'. She hinted at her costume by sharing a picture of Fonda from the science fiction movie in an Instagram Story. The 27-year-old then posted her outfits on her Instagram feed.

Jenner wore a short metal mesh top, a red thong, and a shredded white body stocking for the first of her three Barbarella-inspired ensembles. Her second costume was a black-and-white fur outfit, replete with a tail, that was identical to Barbarella's.

9. Megan Thee Stallion as Starfire

The rapper shared her Halloween photo shoot on Instagram on Tuesday, October 29, with the caption, "STARFIRE THEE STALLION #hottieween24," and even DC Studios CEO James Gunn couldn't help but gush over her outfit. 

In the comments section of Megan's Instagram post, Gunn referred to her transformation into Starfire as "incredible," and on Threads, added, "Whoa. Cool." Megan's love for her Starfire look was not surprising, as she frequently cosplays her favorite anime and comic book heroes.

10. Janelle Monae as ET

For this year, Janelle Monae went with a photorealistic outfit of ET. She modeled several looks from the movie while wearing a full-body replica of the character.

Monae even dressed up as the film's protagonist, Elliott, in a photo to depict the iconic flying bike scene. She captioned her Instagram carousel, "You finally came home. 🛸👆🏽Welcome back E.T. 🥹Thank you Google Maps. Starring yours truly as both E.T. & Janellllliott."

11. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos perfectly nailed Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's attire from this year's US Open for the ABC Halloween special. Similar to the 'Lover' singer, Ripa accessorized her red-and-white gingham dress with a crimson pout and black sunglasses.

Consuelos, on the other hand, channeled the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in an all-white costume and a Gucci bucket hat. He even sported Kelce's iconic mustache.

12. Chrissy Teigen celebrates Day of the Dead

Chrissy Teigen escorted her daughter Luna's Girl Scout troop to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday, October 26 while sporting makeup reminiscent of Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. She shared her Halloween look on her Instagram Stories.

13. G-Eazy as Harry Potter

Singer G-Eazy dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween 2024. He posted several images of his Halloween costume on his Instagram feed with the caption, "Gerry Potter."

14. Jennifer Hudson as Whitney Houston

Jennifer Hudson honored the legendary singer, Whitney Houston, this Halloween. In the third annual Halloween episode of 'The Jennifer Hudson Show', the EGOT winner assumed the role of the "Queen of the Night," a character popularized by Houston in the song of the same name and the movie 'The Bodyguard', as per People.

Hudson appeared to be an exact replica of the late artist, sporting a futuristic outfit reminiscent of the one Houston wore in the 1992 movie and music video from 1993.

The metallic bustier, beaded yoke, and chain skirt of the performance ensemble, as well as Hudson's black hair, silver headpiece, studded black gloves, black leggings, and thigh-high leather boots, were all expertly replicated.

15. Alix Earle as Cheshire Cat

Alix Earle transformed into the Cheshire Cat for her extravagant 'Alice in Wonderland'-themed Halloween party. She wore a cat snout prosthetic and had her body painted for "eight hours" to achieve the desired appearance, as per People. She captioned one of her Halloween Instagram posts, "As the Cheshire Cat once said … 'we’re all mad here.'"
