'90 Day Fiance' star Stephanie Matto bans brother from Thanksgiving after he voted for Donald Trump
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reality TV star Stephanie Matto penned an article explaining why she banned her brother from attending the family Thanksgiving after he chose to vote for the GOP nominee and President-elect Donald Trump, the Daily Mail reported on Saturday, November 23.
Coming from a family of "proud Democrats" who immigrated from the Czech Republic, Matto said that she could not bear her brother voting for the candidate who was "against our best interests" and rubbing it in their faces.

Earlier this month, Dr Amanda Calhoun, chief psychiatry resident at Yale University, stirred up a controversy by telling MSNBC host Joy Reid during an interview that people were justified to stay away from their loved ones who voted for Trump if they felt triggered in their presence. The '90 Day Fiance' star has seemingly decided to act on the advice.
Stephanie Matto's fallout with her brother
Stephanie Matto began her article by stating how close she once was to her brother, who was a decade younger than her and remained unnamed throughout the piece. She revealed how she pampered her younger brother by gifting him a BMW at the age of 21 and paying his phone bills, among other things.

However, Matto claimed that he changed ahead of the election, writing, "He started sending me right-wing news stories and social media posts peddling conspiracy theories – all of which I tried to debunk or fact-check."
"It was scary. I felt like my brother was being brainwashed. You see, my family has always been liberal. My mother and I are proud Democrats, and I guess I always assumed my brother would follow our lead," she continued.
Matto's brother initially informed the family that he wanted to vote for the Green Party candidate Jill Stine, but later could not help himself from boasting about Trump's decisive victory on Election Day.
"My mother is a self-made woman and a proud feminist: she moved to the US from the Czech Republic when I was seven and has built a successful life for herself. When Trump won again, she was devastated that a man who has been found liable for sexual assault could be elected President," stated Matto.
"My brother taunted her, essentially bragging about it until she started to cry. She was so upset she kicked him out of her house for the night and he had to go and stay at his girlfriend’s," she continued.
Though her mother let him back the next day, the brother's unprovoked text about how having Trump in the White House would be "so great for Bitcoin" broke Matto.

"That was the final straw. I was furious," she stated. "It was a slap in the face. He has two women in his life – me and my mother – who have taught him to respect women. His mother is an immigrant, and both of us support him handsomely. But he voted against our best interests and everything that we stand for – and then had the audacity to rub it in our faces."
I blocked his number and told my mother he was no longer welcome at my house for Thanksgiving. If he shows up, I'll send him away," Matto added.
Internet slams Stephanie Matto for banning brother from Thanksgiving
Reacting to the article on the Daily Mail website, some people on social media called out Stephanie Matto for cutting her brother out of her life just ahead of the holidays.
"If Harris had won, this poor brother would have endured the same treatment from not just one family member, but all of them. No respect for differing opinion. How sad to break up a family over something you can't change," wrote a social media user.
"She is the only kind of Lib I know, they will disown their own children over this ideology," said another.
"She says her brother has no respect for her feelings. It sounds more like she has no respect for her brother’s feelings," one person wrote.
"She needs to move on from the election, invite her brother, and not talk about politics at the dinner table," stated another.
"Conservatives seem to be the only people who don’t try and excommunicate those with whom they disagree. It’s a function of basing your views on logic and reason," one individual remarked.
