LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Aaron Rodgers opened up about his journey toward emotional growth in 'Aaron Rodgers: Enigma', a three-part Netflix documentary premiering December 17.

Aaron Rodgers reflects on ‘stunted emotional intelligence’ in new Netflix documentary

Speaking candidly during an ayahuasca ceremony, Aaron Rodgers, 41, reflects on how the psychedelic experience helped him explore “a new way of thinking about masculinity” and achieve “a balance between the divine masculine and the divine feminine.”

"I think part of the real joy in this work, is, there is such a feminine spirit to ayahuasca," he said.

Rodgers, who has faced his fair share of backlash for his openness about psychedelics, reveals a rare emotional memory involving his father, Ed Rodgers.

“I think I saw my dad cry when my grandfather passed. And that might have been it,” he said.

The quarterback reflected on his upbringing, "There wasn't space for emotion, so, I definitely had some stunted emotional intelligence." Rodgers also delved into how his public persona contrasts with his personal journey of self-discovery.

"People who haven't been around me a lot have this idea of who I am or whatnot, and in these situations, you start to peel back some of those layers of who they think you are, and start getting deep, and getting emotional."

For Rodgers, being a “well-balanced man” means embracing emotional depth and vulnerability qualities he acknowledges were missing in his formative years.

'Aaron Rodgers: Enigma', directed by Gotham Chopra and Liam Hughes, promises an in-depth look at the quarterback’s personal and professional life, including his family rift, controversial views, and widely debated use of psychedelics. The documentary also addresses his 2023 season-ending Achilles injury and speculation about his future in football.

Aaron Rodgers’ comments on masculinity and emotional vulnerability, shared during a preview of his upcoming Netflix documentary 'Aaron Rodgers: Enigma', have ignited a wave of reactions on social media. The NFL star’s remarks about using ayahuasca to explore the balance between "divine masculine and divine feminine" left many divided.

One user quipped, “I, too, have done drugs and thought I was a genius,” while another said, “This looks like something I can fall asleep to.”

Others took aim at Rodgers’ perspective, with one commenter joking, “It causes hallucinations, explains his play abilities on the field.”

The quarterback’s statement about masculinity struck a nerve for some. “He lost me when he said to truly be MASCULINE you have to tap into being FEMININE,” one person wrote. “Be masculine because you’re a man and let a female be feminine. I would NEVER look for a masculine woman.”

Another user commented, “We should be careful who we idolize.”

"You’re joking," a user said.
