Addison Rae faces ridicule for showing up at 2024 MTV VMAs red carpet in bizarre 'diaper' outfit

ELMONT, NEW YORK: Addison Rae looked fierce in a white satin two-piece lingerie set by Miss Claire Sullivan at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Wednesday, September 11. 

However, MTV VMA viewers mercilessly attacked the TikTok star, labeling her attire as "bizarre" and "ridiculous," with some saying that it reminded them of a "diaper."

The 'Diet Pepsi' singer's all-white ensemble bore a striking resemblance to the standard Victoria's Secret angel's runway attire. She told MTV that the outfit was inspired by "a little bit of Madonna" and "a little bit of Diet Pepsi," as per The Mirror.

To add oomph to the lingerie set, Rae added a dramatic tulle bustle. Both the bustle and the sculpted bra had feathers attached to them.  

The 23-year-old completed her look with silky ivory peep-toe heels and a pearl-adorned hair clip.

Rae's outfit was designed by Claire Sullivan, who has created similar dresses for celebs like Kylie Jenner, Dua Lipa, and Camila Cabello. 

Rae didn't shy away from addressing the crowd from the VMA stage right before Karol G's explosive performance while sporting her lingerie-inspired ensemble. 

Despite the widespread criticism over her choice of outfit, her TikTok followers expressed their support, calling her an "icon."

Some even compared Rae's unusual attire to the ruffled white costume Madonna wore while performing 'Like a Virgin' at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards, as per Daily Mail.  

On the red carpet, Rae gushed about her musical idol, Britney Spears, saying that her VMA outfits were her all-time "favorites." Sadly, the "Princess of Pop" skipped the award ceremony this year. 

Addison's latest single, 'Diet Pepsi', which was released on August 9, has yet to make it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Addison Rae got roasted on social media platforms over her outfit choice for the 2024 VMA Awards .

One wrote, "That bra is bizarre," and another said, "The shape of the cups in the ensemble is..interesting."

A person exclaimed, "She looks ridiculous," while someone else asked, "What's up with her top? Not very flattering."

One more inquired, "Why is she wearing a diaper." An individual critiqued the outfit, writing, "She looks too large and broad shouldered to wear this. She looks hideous."

Others shared hilarious memes to express their disapproval of Rae's outfit. One more wrote, "I thought this was a classy party," while another person simply remarked, "What is this?!"
