Sabrina Carpenter looks ethereal in Madonna's iconic 1991 Oscars gown at MTV VMAs
ELMONT, NEW YORK: Sabrina Carpenter was a sight to behold as she arrived on the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Wednesday, September 11, in a glittery white Bob Mackie gown that Madonna wore at the 1991 Oscars, as per People.
The 25-year-old, who grabbed the Song of the Year Award, also wowed the audience by performing a medley of 'Espresso', 'Taste', and 'Please Please Please'.

Sabrina Carpenter amped up the look of her vintage dress that comes with silver beaded detailing on its sweetheart neckline with a necklace, a pair of earrings, and a ring from De Beers. But she ditched a fur stole that the 'Material Girl' hitmaker added to her look years ago.

Also, unlike Madonna, who attended the 63rd Academy Awards with Michael Jackson, the 'Short n' Sweet' went alone to the VMAs.
Carpenter reportedly took the help of hairstylist Evanie Frausto to style her blonde hair in voluminous curls that resembled the iconic looks of Madonna and Marilyn Monroe.
For her makeup, the 'Please Please Please' singer trusted Carolina Gonzalez, who glammed her up for the event by adding a bright red lip, silver eyeshadow, and Velour lashes.
The 'Girl Meets World' star received nominations in six categories, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop.
At the much-awaited event, she shared the stage with Megan Thee Stallion, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Rauw Alejandro, Chappell Roan, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Karol G, Anitta, Benson Boone, and Lisa.

Sabrina Carpenter's past relationships inspired the album title 'Short n' Sweet'
A month ago, Sabrina Carpenter released her sixth studio album, 'Short n' Sweet', which includes her hit tracks 'Espresso' and 'Please Please Please', and disclosed the thought behind its name.
During an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, she shared, "I called it 'Short n' Sweet' for multiple reasons. It was not because I'm vertically challenged. I thought about some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest I've ever had, and they affected me the most."
"I think about the way that I respond to situations, and sometimes it is very nice, and sometimes it's not very nice. And again, the thing about albums, projects, writing songs, it's all moments," explained the former Disney Channel star.
The 25-year-old asserted that she has "always yearned to care enough about a person or a situation or a relationship in my life that it provokes that much feeling in me, because I think that's why we're here."
