LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Adrien Brody is celebrating his second Academy Award nomination after nearly two decades.

On Thursday, January, 23, the 51-year-old actor received a Best Actor nomination for his leading role in 'The Brutalist' at the 97th Oscars. Besides him, Timothee Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan also received best actor nominations for 'A Complete Unknown,' 'Sing Sing,' 'Conclave,' and 'The Apprentice' respectively. 

Adrien Brody says his career has had 'peaks and valleys'

Adrien Brody started acting at the age of 13 and won his first Oscar for Best Actor in 2003 for 'The Pianist' at the 75th Oscars.

He expressed gratitude for this recognition as he reflected on his long career spanning nearly four decades.

"Thank you to all my peers and colleagues at the Academy for this extraordinary honor. For almost four decades, I’ve experienced the peaks and valleys of being an artist," Adrien Brody wrote on Instagram, reflecting on his journey.

He added, "It’s given me perspective and a tremendous appreciation and respect for this moment."

In 'The Brutalist', Brody portrays Laszlo Toth, a Hungarian-born Jewish architect who immigrates to the United States after surviving World War II and the Holocaust.

The film, which garnered 10 nominations this year, tied with 'Wicked' for the second-most nods, according to People.

"Portraying Laszlo Toth, and representing the hardships and yearnings of so many, including the very struggles of my own family, has rekindled my own sense of being and belonging, and believing again," Adrien Brody wrote about the role.



 

Sharing his gratitude for the project, he stated, "Sharing this profound experience with our talented and dedicated cast and crew on 'The Brutalist' has been a rare gift that I am endlessly grateful for."

He concluded saying, "Thank you for honoring us all with this recognition. I am only here through the support of many. I am truly humbled and will cherish this momentous occasion forever."

Fans and admirers flooded Adrien Brody's Instagram with praise.

Praising 'The Brutalist', one fan wrote, "Saw the movie in the theater a few days ago and let me tell you my jaw was on the floor from start to finish. What a haunting piece of art. Win or not, that Oscar is yours as far as I’m concerned."

Currently, 'The Brutalist' is only available in theaters.
