LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Adrien Brody defended his viral act of throwing a piece of gum from his mouth toward his girlfriend Georgina Chapman at the 2025 Oscars during a backstage interview, LADBible reported on Tuesday, March 4.

The 97th Academy Awards took place at the usual Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 2. Brody won his second Oscar for Best Actor in the event for starring in the film 'The Brutalist'. His first was in 2003 for the Holocaust drama 'The Pianist'.

The 51-year-old star had a second reason to go viral at the event. In 2003, Brody kissed presenter Halle Berry while receiving his award on stage. Over two decades later, Berry, 58, got her payback as she cut in between Brody and Chapman on the red carpet and landed a kiss on him.
