Al Roker sparks concern as he’s seen wearing knee patch in motivational exercise video: 'What's it for?'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Al Roker has sparked concern among his fans after he was seen sporting a patch on his knee during his morning routine in a new workout video. While many viewers praised the segment as a source of morning motivation, others expressed worry over the patch.

This comes on the heels of a hilarious moment on ‘Today’, where Roker's playful comment about his age had his co-hosts and viewers laughing out loud.

Al Roker shares motivational workout video

In a video posted to Al Roker's Instagram on Monday, February 24, the longtime 'Today' anchor showcased a series of simple exercises, including heel lifts, leg bends, bicep curls, and knee taps.

The video was captioned, "Good Monday morning. A quick :10 workout just to get things moving. Trying to strengthen the muscles around the knees. Check our the @starttoday_ app!!" In the video he reminded his followers saying, "Something is better than nothing."

As noted by Parade, Roker has undergone multiple knee replacement surgeries over the years. During a May 2023 appearance, he opened up about the challenges of recovering from his most recent procedure.

He explained, "This one has been the toughest one yet because they had to take out the old one, which had some complications, and then put in a new one."

Roker went on to describe the complexity of the surgery, "It goes all the way up into the femur, down to the tibia, and then there's a hinge between, so they really had to do a lot of work to get the old stuff—the old hardware out, the new hardware in, plus there's a titanium cone in there for the bone to grow."

He also shared a humorous moment: "I was feeling good because the nerve block hadn't worn off yet, so I started cooking. And my doctor saw my Instagram, and he was like, 'No. We're not doing that. So, the thing is, to actually stay off the knee and to ice and elevate and I'm doing physical therapy."
