Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria admits she didn’t understand prenups but signed one with him anyway

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hilaria Baldwin confessed that she did not fully grasp what a prenuptial agreement was when she signed one before marrying Alec Baldwin.

The revelation came during the premiere of TLC’s reality series 'The Baldwins', which aired on Sunday, February 23.

Referencing his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002, Alec Baldwin recalled, “After my first marriage I said, ‘Let’s have a prenup.’”

Hilaria admitted that at the time, she did not completely understand the concept of a prenup. “I just don’t understand quite what a prenup is,” she explained.

“Because you are like, ‘After a certain number of kids it is this.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? I will just sign it.’ Which was probably very stupid of me back then,” the 40-year-old yoga instructor shared.

Looking back, Hilaria acknowledged that she would handle things differently today.

“Now, I would read it again. I just said, ‘I won’t sign it. I don’t really want to think about the end by the beginning.’ And then you [Alec] were like, ‘I don’t want to do it either,’” she said.

The premiere of 'The Baldwins' offered an unfiltered look at the couple’s dynamic more than a decade into their marriage.

The show features Alec, Hilaria, and their seven children, Carmen Gabriela, 11, Rafael Thomas, 9, Leonardo Angel Charles, 8, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, Maria Lucia Victoria, 4, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2.

Alec also shares a 29-year-old daughter, Ireland, with ex-wife Basinger, 71.

The reality show follows Alec and Baldwin’s busy family life, a concept they had reportedly been considering for some time.

According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly in November 2023, Alec and Hilaria were exploring the idea of a reality series but only wanted to move forward with something that authentically captured their lives.

“They genuinely love spending time together, so it would have to be something that shows their personalities, everyday laughter, and adventures,” the insider revealed.

“Alec’s favorite thing is spending time with Hilaria and their kids. They love the idea of a show where they can show people who they are and what matters most to them,” said the source.

Alec Baldwin on prioritizing his family

Alec Baldwin, who has been open about his evolving priorities as a father, previously discussed how having a large family has changed his lifestyle.

Speaking on Kelly Ripa’s 'Let’s Talk Off Camera' podcast in November 2023, he admitted that travel has become a logistical challenge due to the number of tickets required for his family.

“Nannies, kids, my wife—I need, like, 11 tickets,” he joked.

“They don’t even have 11 seats in the business class section of the plane," the 66-year-old actor added.
