LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Alexandra Daddario has set the record straight about a long-standing rumor regarding her acting abilities.

The Emmy Award nominee addressed the persistent claim that she is a "bad actress" despite her nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Season 1 of HBO's 'The White Lotus.'



 

Alexandra Daddario says 'director and the writing is everything'

Alexandra Daddario tackled the rumor during Elle’s drinking game segment 'Thirst Trap.'

She was asked to name the “most outrageous rumor” about herself “that won’t go away.” Without hesitation, she said, "That I’m a bad actress. I’m not a bad actress."

She continued, "I’ve just done some projects that don’t showcase me in the way that I should be showcased. Okay? Director and the writing is everything and sometimes I’m lit poorly, but I’m not a bad actress."

"I got an Emmy nomination. How do you think I did that?" Daddario asked critics. 

She starred in the first season of 'The White Lotus' created by Mike White which debuted in 2021 and was nominated at the Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series.

Daddario played Rachel Patton, a journalist on vacation whose trip is upended by her husband Shane, played by Jake Lacy, and his mother played by Molly Shannon.

Alexandra Daddario previously hinted at possible return to 'The White Lotus'

Alexandra Daddario previously spoke about the possibility of returning to the HBO series, revealing that 'The White Lotus' has ideas for her character and Lacy’s Shane Patton to make a cameo in a future season.

"Shane and I would be on a boat, talking about other people, annoying everyone around us," Daddario told Deadline at the time.

"Mike’s brain is always working. That’s the whole thing with his commentary on the world around him: He’s always observing," she added.

In 2022, she noted, "My agent hasn’t reached out yet" about an appearance in Season 2, but with the third season set in Thailand, there is speculation about whether her character will return.



 

Inside Alexandra Daddario's career

Before earning an Emmy nomination for 'The White Lotus,' Alexandra Daddario’s career began when she was cast as Annabeth Chase in the 'Percy Jackson' film series.

She later took on roles in major films like 'Skyscraper' and 'Baywatch,' both of which co-starred Dwayne Johnson.

Her supporting role in the first season of HBO’s 'True Detective' also played a significant role in her rise as an actress, Variety noted. 

Meanwhile, Daddario currently stars as Rowan Fielding in AMC’s horror series 'Mayfair Witches' which wraps up its second season on March 2.
