WASHINGTON, DC: Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former communications official in Donald Trump's administration and current co-host on 'The View', expressed concerns about her ex-boss's recent behavior, describing his Thursday, August 8, press conference at Mar-a-Lago as indicative of him “spiraling".

According to Mediaite, in a discussion on CNN with Kate Bolduan and Bakari Sellers, Griffin analyzed Trump’s press conference.

Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago press conference sparks criticism

During the press conference, Donald Trump warned of a potential “1929-variety” economic depression and a global conflict if he isn’t elected.

Additionally, Trump faced criticism for avoiding a question about abortion and for a controversial remark claiming his crowd on January 6, 2021, was larger than that of Martin Luther King Jr’s—though estimates suggest King’s crowd was about five times larger.

Alyssa Farah Griffin labeled the press conference a “dumpster fire", emphasizing Trump’s mishandling of the abortion issue.

“This was an absolute dumpster fire of a press conference, to be clear,” Griffin said. “But I think it’s the if you say it, it may be so. He knows it’s a huge issue. Donald Trump’s actually been ahead of most Republicans in realizing what a major vulnerability it is for Republicans.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin also noted Trump’s struggle to formulate a coherent message against a high-profile competitor like Vice President Kamala Harris, who, according to Griffin, has gained significant momentum and is attracting larger crowds.

She argued that Trump is floundering in his approach against Harris, reminiscent of how he was in 2016 when he faced Hillary Clinton.

“Donald Trump’s triggered because he’s actually running against a candidate, for once, is the celebrity candidate, the one that pop culture is following. That was him against Hillary Clinton in 2016. He was sort of this outsider, you know, hosting 'SNL',” Griffin said.

“Now he’s got someone who has [Barack] Obama-level momentum and is pulling huge crowds and he doesn’t know how to attack her.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin raised concerns about Donald Trump’s stamina, suggesting he is “slowing down".

She told Bolduan that the press conference shows he’s “spiraling.”

"They can’t land a message against Kamala Harris. It’s frankly not that hard. Say she’s Joe Biden, but more liberal. If you don’t like Biden policies, don’t vote for her,” Griffin noted.

“But instead he’s flailing. I mean, talking about crowd sizes is just an absolute example that he’s spiraling, his advisors don’t have control over his message, and he doesn’t know what he wants to say.”

During the press conference, Trump was asked if he feared Harris' crowd size. To this he said, "Oh, give me a break."

“Listen, I had 107,000 people in New Jersey, you didn’t report it. I’m so glad you asked. What did she have yesterday, 2,000 people?”
