Alyssa Farah Griffin slams Dems for unhelpful 'antics' like waving signs during Trump's Congress address

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Former White House communications director and current 'The View' co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin didn’t hold back on the recent episode when discussing the Democrats’ protest tactics during Donald Trump’s Congressional address on March 4.
During the lengthy speech, Democratic attendees attempted to fact-check Trump in real-time, flashing signs that read "false" whenever they believed he was spreading misinformation.
Alyssa Farah Griffin criticizes Democratic ‘antics'
The following morning, 'The View' panelists dissected the drama.
Griffin, who also previously worked under former Vice President Mike Pence, had a different concern, one centered on optics.
She criticized Democrats for what she saw as performative stunts rather than meaningful action, instead praising Senator Elissa Slotkin for delivering what she considered a far more effective response to Trump.
"I thought Elissa Slotkin was masterful and gave Democrats the winning message they flailed to have, but I thought the antics on the floor were not helpful," Griffin told her cohosts.

"I don't think that waving a cane is the optics that the Democrats want. I don't think holding up signs, which are now just being mocked on the internet... It's like, who is advising these people?"
Griffin’s take is hardly surprising, given her increasingly fiery exchanges at The View’s 'Hot Topics' table since Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race.
Sunny Hostin calls for Democratic unity as tensions flare on ‘The View’
One moment that truly ignited discussion on 'The View' was when Rep Al Green disrupted the proceedings, calling out Donald Trump’s stance on Medicaid while shaking his cane in his direction, an act that led to his removal from the chamber.
Legal expert and co-host Sunny Hostin also had strong words about what she perceived as the Democrats’ lack of strategic unity, concerning the March 4 address.

"I was looking for signs of an opposition party, which is what the Democratic party must be at this point, not a resistance, because resistance is passive," Hostin declared.
"Opposition is active. I think what I saw when Rep Al Green stood up and said you don't have a mandate to take away Medicaid and he was tossed out? I expected the rest of his Democratic caucus, the rest of his colleagues, to walk out with him, because alone you can survive, but together you thrive," she added.

Just this week, tensions ran high again when moderator Whoopi Goldberg had to cut off a clash between Griffin and former White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
The debate reportedly flared when Griffin pressed Jean-Pierre on campaign-related issues, only for the former press secretary to push back, stating regarding the matter of the Biden campaign, she was not privy to those details.
