Andre Braugher always prioritized family despite busy acting schedule
Braugher met Brabson, an actress herself, when they co-starred together on 'Homicide.'
In a past interview with Variety, Braugher spoke fondly of his wife saying, “She knows me like the back of her hand, and I’m grateful for that.” The couple wed in 1991 and went on to have three sons over the next decade, according to Parade.
Michael Braugher, 32, is the couple’s oldest son. He has followed in his parents’ footsteps as an actor, with roles on Broadway and appearances on 'The Gilded Age.' Isaiah, 27 and John Wesley, 20, have opted for more private lives outside the public eye.
However, all three dearly loved their father and the family time they shared with him whenever possible. Though busy acting, Braugher always prioritized flying home to New York to be with his family.
Andre Braugher amassed over 100 acting credits across film and television
Braugher first rose to critical acclaim for his portrayal of a Black Union soldier in the 1989 Civil War film 'Glory' alongside Denzel Washington and Matthew Broderick.
However, it was his groundbreaking role as Detective Frank Pembleton on 'Homicide: Life on the Street' that catapulted him to fame in the 1990s, as per AS USA.
As one of the first Black leading men on a network drama, Braugher brought heart and intensity to the complex character over the show’s seven year run. His masterful performance earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Though he never again reached quite the same heights as his star-making turn on 'Homicide,' Braugher amassed over 100 acting credits across film and television over his decades long career.
Other highlights include his Emmy-winning role in the 2006 mini series 'Thief' and his four time Emmy-nominated performance as the deadpan Captain Raymond Holt on comedy series 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' from 2013 to 2021.
