Andy Cohen apologizes to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag for past comments but the duo want something more
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Andy Cohen is once again addressing his past remarks about 'The Hills' star Heidi Montag this time with a more direct apology.
During the Wednesday, January 29, episode of 'Andy Cohen Live' on SiriusXM, the Bravo host, 56, reflected on his 2011 jab, where he called Montag “trash” and said he’d rather “stab knives” in his own eyes than see her on 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'.

Andy Cohen apologizes again for past insult toward Heidi Montag
“I apologized, so what I will say also is that was mean,” Cohen admitted on-air and added, “That was 14 years ago, and what I really don’t like about it is referring to her as trash. I don’t like that at all, and I’m really sorry about that. So I apologize again, I guess.”
Cohen admitted, "By the way, there were things that we said and did on TV 14 years ago that we wouldn’t do now. It just was a different universe but that’s not, I’m not trying to justify it.”
The renewed controversy kicked off when Heidi Montag’s husband, Spencer Pratt, brought up Cohen’s old insult after fans suggested Montag should join 'RHOBH'. Pratt, 41, didn’t hold back, saying he’d “rather sit in (his) burned house rubble” than have Montag appear on Cohen’s show. The reality star lost his home in the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires and previously urged fans to stream Montag’s song 'I’ll Do It' to support their rebuilding efforts.

Despite Cohen’s public apology, Pratt isn’t satisfied. He told TMZ on Wednesday that Cohen needs to reach out privately to make amends. He also jokingly suggested Cohen post a video dancing to 'I’ll Do It' as a gesture of goodwill.
Cohen previously apologized for the comment in 2011 and again in 2023, but with Pratt pushing for more, the feud doesn’t seem to be over just yet.
Andy Cohen's apology for past comments sparks major online reaction
Andy Cohen’s public apology for past comments has generated significant reactions across social media, with fans weighing in on both the apology and its impact. Cohen expressed regret over previous remarks, particularly towards Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, which sparked a variety of responses online.
One user wrote, "Spencer and his wife do nothing but cry stop giving them screen time," while another praised Cohen’s efforts, writing, "Awh love that you are going above and beyond. This is why we love you. Yes, we all grow and make mistakes. Also praying Speidi heals from all past & feels your apology & knows we love them too."
One user commented, "I love how you are such a Mench and owned this @bravoandy. Spencer is a Leo (a fixed sign) and holds a grudge! Gemini’s like us don’t! It was a different time back then and mean sold."
Some felt the apology would have been more meaningful if done on the platform where the comments were made, with one suggesting, "But I think an apology on the show which you originally said this, WWHL, would be the true reciprocal act."
Others expressed support for the apology, writing, "Good, you should be sorry."
One user commented, "Send Heidi Montag some flowers. You said some really nasty stuff and though you’ve now apologized for it a second time, the girl’s been through enough. Send some apology flowers. As Dorinda would say, make it nice with Heidi."
