NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: As Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as the new mayor of New York on Thursday, January 1, Eric Adams’ term concluded.
Minutes after the New Year's Eve ball dropped in Times Square, Bravo celebrity Andy Cohen shared his send-off message for the former mayor, and asked him to “go off in the sunset.”
Andy Cohen pokes fun at Eric Adams' 'pardons'
During his send-off message at the Times Square Ball Drop, Bravo talk show host Andy Cohen poked fun at former New York Mayor Eric Adams during CNN’s 'New Year’s Eve Live'.
Cohen recalled Adams’s “horrible” term in office and told him that he’d like to bid farewell to his “chaotic” four years as New York’s mayor.
Anderson Cooper and BJ Novak tried to control the situation as the Bravo celebrity took a shot of alcohol with other celebrities.
“Great, you got your pardons, go off in the sunset. We’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you left us with,” he added.
Despite several attempts by others to stop him, Cohen continued. He told the cameras that Adams had pardoned his way “through four years” and “all the clubs.”
“You did it, you did it, you did it, didn’t you?” he said.
Meanwhile, Anderson Cooper tried to de-escalate the situation while Novak told the cameras that Cohen couldn’t “control” himself.
Andy Cohen makes fun of the Office of Rodent Mitigation
Andy Cohen congratulated the former mayor on implementing the new Office of Rodent Mitigation, which came into being in December 2025. He said that Adams may have “dented the rat population.”
He added that Eric Adams thought he got rid of some rats, noting that it seemed like a “metaphor of sorts.”
“Let’s call it as it is, honestly,” he added.
He then joked that it was a new year and there were fewer rats in New York City.
On Thursday, New York got a new Mayor as Zohran Mamdani was sworn in by NY Attorney General Letitia James.
He is New York City’s 112th mayor, and the city is expected to start a new chapter under his administration.
