Angelina Jolie offers rare insight into her dating life nearly a decade after Brad Pitt split
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Angelina Jolie has revealed that she has not dated anyone since her divorce from actor Brad Pitt nearly a decade ago, offering a rare glimpse into her personal life while promoting her upcoming film, 'Couture.'
The actress reflected on how motherhood has shaped her priorities, how her children are encouraging her to rediscover herself, and where she stands today. Her comments come as the legal dispute with Pitt over Chateau Miraval continues to unfold in court.
Angelina Jolie opens up about post-divorce life
The 'Salt' actress made the comments in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment while discussing her role in 'Couture.' In the film, she plays Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker diagnosed with breast cancer while working at Paris Fashion Week.
Maxine, who has a daughter, is also romantically involved with cinematographer Anton, played by Louis Garrel. Jolie said portraying the character made her reconsider the idea that someone can pursue a romantic relationship while remaining devoted to their children.
“To be candid, I haven’t dated since I divorced a decade ago,” Jolie said, adding, “So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centered in my life if I’m focusing on my children, my family."
“It took me a second to kind of say, well, she can also love her daughter and be dedicated to her daughter and also need this as a woman and receive this as a woman,” she continued.
Jolie separated from Pitt in September 2016 after two years of marriage, with their divorce taking eight years to finalize.
The former couple share six children. Speaking about this stage of her life, Jolie said her daughters are encouraging her to embrace more than just motherhood. “I think in some way they’re bringing me back to my old self."
She concluded, “My desire for them to have all of the strength and openness and softness and faith and ferocity is reminding me. I think they kind of want me now to not just be 'Mom.' I’m thinking I have to live again. Be free again."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's winery battle continues
Jolie’s personal reflections come as her legal battle with Pitt over Chateau Miraval remains ongoing.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the Superior Court of California granted a motion from Pitt’s legal team on June 17 compelling depositions from members of the Stoli Group, whose wine division, Tenute del Mondo, purchased Jolie’s stake in the French winery in 2021.
His lawyers argued that Stoli investors had firsthand knowledge of the transaction. In June 2025, Pitt sought to depose Stoli Group executive Alexey Oliynik, who allegedly refused to provide documents or appear for questioning, arguing that he could not be compelled to do so because he is a Swiss resident.
A source told Page Six that “Stoli parties will now have to face the music and be transparent about the transaction.”
Another insider, however, said Jolie sold her stake to Stoli solely because she believed it would be “an excellent worldwide distribution partner who could help grow the business for the benefit of their children, who stood to inherit Brad’s portion.”
“The truth is that Pitt’s ego and obsession for control got in the way. Brad refused to work with Stoli simply because Angie chose them, not him,” the insider added.
Her attorney, Paul Murphy, maintained that “The ruling has no impact on the merits of the case, and certainly has no impact on Ms Jolie’s case. At this point, Ms Jolie is just looking forward to defeating the case at trial next year so that their family can finally focus their energies on healing and moving on.”
