Angelina Jolie opts for quite 50th birthday celebration after spending her 'rough' 40s tackling divorce

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie just turned 50, but the Hollywood star has decided to skip any grand celebration.
Instead, she has chosen to spend her milestone day with her children in quiet celebration.
Angelina Jolie's 'rough' 40s behind her as she feels 'in a much better place now'
According to a source close to Jolie, the actress “seems genuinely excited and happy about turning 50,” but “doesn't want a big party," People reported.
The 'Maria' star reportedly prefers a “more intimate celebration” with her children Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 18; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

“So much of her 40s were rough. She’s in a much better place now,” said the source.
Notably, Jolie finalized her divorce from Brad Pitt in December 2024 after an extended legal dispute.
Pitt recently downplayed the finalization of his divorce with Jolie. During a GQ interview he was asked if he felt "different being on the other side of the divorce finally being finalized" and if there was a sense of "relief," he simply replied, "No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally."

Meanwhile, a source added that the divorce has been good overall. “The kids are amazing and thriving. There is less family drama,” the source added.
Angelina Jolie 'feels more grounded than ever'
In 2024, Jolie returned to acting with the Netflix biopic 'Maria Callas', marking her first on-screen role since 2021's 'Those Who Wish Me Dead' and 'Eternals'.

She also directed 'Without Blood', her first directorial feature since 2017, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Her sons Maddox and Pax worked on set during the production, which featured Salma Hayek Pinault.

Jolie also took home her first Tony Award in 2024 as a producer of the Broadway musical 'The Outsiders', where daughter Vivienne volunteered behind the scenes.

A separate source told People that Jolie “is embracing the idea of turning 50 and feels more grounded than ever” on her birthday.
“She’s not shying away from getting older, in fact she’s leaning into it,” the source added.
“Angie sees aging in a really positive light especially after losing her mom so young. She feels calm, inspired, and she’s excited about what’s ahead.”
